Let's get right to it.

New York Magazine: The Ten Most Anti-Christian Movies of All Time. Um... ?

More from NYMag: Is ‘The Golden Compass’ Too Anti-Christian, or Not Anti-Christian Enough? That depends on how much the film follows the book, really. Bill "Intolerable fat fuck" Donohue weighs in from his Catholic League salvo: “Atheism for kids. That is what Philip Pullman sells. It is his hope that ‘The Golden Compass". Get fucked, Bill. And by 'get fucked', I mean get raptured. More on the the flap this movie is getting from the Guardian. And by flap, I mean higher ticket sales.

On a side note, let me just say once again that if your faith is capable of being destroyed by a fucking movie, it cannot be that strong or worth having to begin with - don't blame the movie, be grateful for it. If taking your children to see a movie is going to warp their little minds, consider the mind-warping you're playing offense with first and ask yourself is it fair, or is it child abuse? Or, you know, BE A FUCKING GOOD PARENT and make rules with your children about things you find acceptable/unacceptable and discuss it with them.

Remember a while back when I wrote a post about abstinence-only sex shaming, as this is what A-O sex miseducation amounts to (post located here)? My point was that it almost always fails and that in fact it produces the opposite of its desired effects. I have more proof.

NIE Debacle
Report contradicts Bush on Iran nuclear program. What a fucking liar! My head is going to explode, I swear it is. Patent lies from Bush once again - unless you're apologist extraordinnaire Joe Klein who thinks this is an 'amazing moment of candor'. Olbermann calls it out once more. Those poor Neocons, too stupid to be taken seriously, too easily discredited to be believed. Die by your own swords, bitches. Slow and painful.

According to Haaretz, Israel has known about the Iran NIE “for more than a month. The first information on it was passed on to Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and to Shaul Mofaz, who is the minister responsible for the strategic dialog with the Americans. The issue was also discussed at the Annapolis summit by Barak and U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, and it seems also between Bush and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.” But Bush claims he didn’t get briefed on the NIE until last Wednesday.

The General nails it with this: "This is why it is critical to discuss a candidates religious beliefs. It gives us the best insight we can get into how someone like Mitt would govern. He's the type of leader who would believe that his actions are condoned by God and are not subject to Earthly laws like the Constitution."

Just got back from the 10:45 showing of Golden Compass this morning. At the first showing there were 20 people in the theatre. Usually there are only one of two for the first showing on a weekday. So I see the numbers for this being huge.

Hello. spike here, friend of merlinwon.

We went to see "The Golden Compass" Friday night-- excellent movie. A bit tamer than the book and a couple of scenes swapped in order of appearance. All the fuss about the movie reminds me of the fuss over the Passion of Christ-- Mother Angelica was busy telling the catholics that anyone who went to see that movie was automatically going to hel.

My brief infatuation with Mother Angelica had nothing to do with religion and more to do with nothing much shaking in my life at the time. Long story.

I see that you are political and knowledgeable, gay and outspoken, a secular humanist, atheist, evolutionist.
That's good enough for me.
I am not as politically savvy but learning still [and wonder if sometime you would comment on the Live Journal SUP thingy? or email me], bisexual woman currently married to a man, secular humanist, atheist, non-wiccan witch, and definitely into evolution not unintelligible design.

I'm adding you. You are under no pressure to add me back or to comment on my stuff. I think I could learn some stuff from you especially in the political arena.

I love your icons btw.

This time next year the shrub will almost be outta here.
