Dumbledore is a homo, and it's possibly the most irrelevant anecdote ever. I repeat, big fucking deal.

Also, a preemptive FUCK YOU to all HP slash/fanfic writers who are no doubt going to use this for some pedophilic bullshit. Because.

*gets molested*

You would be so proud of the website I'm working on for a good musician/artist friend of mine, I've worked my ASS off on this thing!

If you'd like to see the beta/test/mirror of it before it launches, email me and I'll give you the link.

Chan has been prevalent in HP fandom since the fandom's inception. I doubt we'll see any improvement on that front. Eesh.

My immediate thought upon reading that was "oh boy the Christian right is going to immediately work in some pedophilic relationship with Harry" As much as I respect the author for having a variety of characters, this just sets the ball for the nutcases

Glad to know I wasn't the only one whose reaction was, "So?"

/sigh at the incoming waves of really stupid fan fiction :P

Thank you! I was starting to feel like the only person who went "So what?" at this news.

I've only seen this reported on the Fox News channel.

Does anyone else find it newsworthy?

Of course Dumbledore's gay, just look at that robe he's always wearing.

It's so insignificant, but of course they're going to make an issue of it.

BTW - big changes to the site, esp. the media player - go look, I bookmarked it on your computer - and let me know what you think!

Eh, slashers were already writing it, this isn't going to change it much. Dumbledore being gay doesn't make it anymore canon, he's clearly not gay with Harry in any normal person's perception of the book.

I send my preemptive fuck yous to the religious right nuts who are going to fuss about it. I personally am a little irritated that Rowling even felt the need to bring this up. If it wasn't relevant in the book, then sexuality shouldn't be relevant to the character at all. None of this after the fact bullcrap.

In her defense, it was in answer to a question: "Did Dumbledore, who believed in the prevailing power of love, ever fall in love himself?"
21st-Oct-2007 09:50 am (UTC)
She is supposed to have done it because in the movie they are currently filming the writers wanted to put in a lost love..a woman. So she informed them that wasnt the way he was :: shrugs::

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. It's not like I turned cartwheels or anything - I'm probably the single most casual HP fan you'll find, just reading each book and seeing each movie once - but I got that vibe off the old guy in the last book and I'm glad to see as a reader that I'm not crazy. *G*

I'm like you I enjoy the books and the movies but I am not obsessive

agreed, and agreed.

I agree, who the hell cares!? Now the far right will just have another reason to get the books out of schools. First it was the witchcraft angle now it is the homo hate.

I always wondered why the Professor always had to have his office door open when he was with a student! hehe
