Go Ahead, Ask Me
4th-Sep-2007 11:09 pm
Ask me a personal question about myself, and I shall endeavor to answer it.

And just for fun:

5th-Sep-2007 03:54 am (UTC)
do you realize that you are in my friend list...?

5th-Sep-2007 04:31 am (UTC)
Indeed I do!
5th-Sep-2007 04:41 am (UTC)
I can't think of anything to ask that you haven't already answered. But I did want to mention that I luuuuurrrrrrves me some [Unknown LJ tag]!
5th-Sep-2007 04:43 am (UTC)
I was gonna delete that to correct it, but I think it's funnier if I leave it. You can of course guess what I meant to say!
5th-Sep-2007 04:53 am (UTC)
What's your favorite sleeping-position?
5th-Sep-2007 04:59 am (UTC)
I know this sounds creepy, but I sleep most soundly in a position just like that of a corpse in a coffin - on my back, hands folded across my chest. It unnerves anyone who sees me sleeping like that!

Do you have any prejudices against particular people or groups of people? (I'll presume you don't automatically dislike all Republicans, unless you tell otherwise. *G*) And if so, what is your basis in experience for such?
5th-Sep-2007 12:36 pm (UTC)
I hate stupid people. Ignorance is fixable, but you can't do much with stupid.

I don't actively hate all Republicans, just the ones I've come to know personally and the ones that are trying to destroy this country with wedge issues that detract from real issues.

I don't actively hate all Christians, either - just the ones who deserve it. Then again, that can be said of anyone.

I dig your hair...

How much do you pay for a haircut?

If it's not too personal?
5th-Sep-2007 12:37 pm (UTC)
Thanks, I do it myself. It is not too personal, if it ever were, I'd tell you.

Love is when you want better things for people than they want for themselves.

I love your blog, but also wondered sometimes if you just compartmentalized your angst here, or are you generally this angry in life and if so, what do you think the source is?
5th-Sep-2007 12:48 pm (UTC)

I don't compartmentalize my angst, really - I prefer to vent it so that it cannot cause me to rot from within. I have deep reserves of anger, the sources are plentiful and multiple and channeling then into productive means allows me to be healthier than those that are ruled by it.

If one pays close attention to issues that affect us all, there is much to take objection to and much that should be spotlit and sadly isn't. This is what propels much of my political blogging. We all live in society and there is no utopia to speak of that would sate us all - that's why we make our home a sacred space - so for me, it's more about letting myself give in to my upsets and dealing with them productively.

It's almost pathological, but it is liberating and cathartic and keeps me sane and productive for those who need and deserve the best of me. In life with those I interact with daily, I'm very even keeled and thoughtful, which comes to me naturally and organically and with little inclination towards extremes. I suppose in a fundamental way I'm obsessed with balance, so I never want too much of any one thing. Being capable of directing my rage at the people/things that have earned it allows me to clear that space out, you know what I mean?

I would like to know your current food loves...whatchoo groovin on in the kitchen, mah biscuit?
5th-Sep-2007 12:57 pm (UTC)
In the late summer, I start gearing up for fall with a serious jones for wood smoked stuff - BBQ, smoked cheeses, you get the idea. I lean towards the savory and earthy stuff as well - beans, peas, greens, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Last night I cooked smoked sausages with peppers, onions, & mushrooms; a cucumber and tomato salad; and broccoli/cheddar rice. For dessert I ate two small oranges and two plums drizzled with orange blossom honey.

Another thing I do is to get an entire can of chipotle chiles in adobo sauce and puree them in my blender until they make a thick paste, and I stir spoonfuls of that into soups, sauces, marinades, all sorts of things. Last night it went into some creole mustard to go along with the sausages. A spoonful of this chili paste into a bit of mayo on a smoked turkey sandwich with lettuce & smoked cheddar is one of my favorites.

Do you want to have children of your own?
5th-Sep-2007 01:06 pm (UTC)
I would love to be able to adopt a child (I have a very special heart place for special needs children and at one time swore I would only ever adopt a child that had Down's Syndrome) but I'm an idealist in most situations. I know that it is backbreaking work having a child in the best of situations, when there is plenty of money in the bank and a stable home, etc. etc - but there also has to be a willingness to create years of repetition and little wandering from the same environment in order for them to really thrive in the first few years, and it takes a LOT of energy - and frankly, I'm already very life-tired.

I fantasize about it, but I don't think so.

Are you still planning the death march, when you'll become 40?
5th-Sep-2007 04:34 pm (UTC)
I would like to, yes - it might have to wait until I'm 45 or 50 though, so I'm not sold on it happening when i turn 40 specifically - just at some point.

If you ever voted for a Rethuglican, who was it?
5th-Sep-2007 04:35 pm (UTC)
I never have voted for a Republican.
5th-Sep-2007 03:08 pm (UTC)
I just choked on my coffee, you heartless bastard.

What would you say is the craziest thing you've ever done?
5th-Sep-2007 04:50 pm (UTC)
Oh good grief, that's hard only because there are multiple things.

Some things I cannot say because of legal issues that I think might come and bite me in the ass later, but off the top of my head I'll say that one of the craziest things I ever did was when I was a teenager and was dared to skate though the mall wearing only my underwear - and I did it.

Also, about 15 years ago in a supermarket parking lot I dropped trou and performed Phantom Of The Opera (with my car stereo as an accompaniment) for daisy_down because she was depressed and needed to laugh.

I'll reply to this again if more comes to mind.

I know I'm late with the personal question thing, but I got behind on my flist, the shame!!

What do you do for a living? It seems that you post a LOT (which is awesome for me), and I was curious about how you sustain such a lovely household, and have the means to cook AMAZING sounding food! If you don't work right now, did you? And what did you do/would you like to do, if you're not currently employed?
6th-Sep-2007 12:48 pm (UTC)
I don't have a conventional money paying job. I have a home & a D to take care of, as well as a newborn niece that I'll likely be playing "Manny" to in the near future. That's what I did for the past 6 years until Avery was old enough to go to school.

Cooking is one of my passions, I cook every day. It's better food, it's cheaper than eating out, and it's an opportunity for me to indulge in something I love doing.
