Wow, it's not even my birthday! This gives me the warm fuzzies, unlike this headline: With New Orleans practically dead, GOP Louisiana Senator David Vitter is more worried about gay marriage. He actually said that there was no issue more pressing, just like Dubya did. I suppose this offers (or at least suggests) proof that evolution has it's flaws. Here's another, though it's no revelation: Photos seem to contradict Marine version of Haditha killings. Wonder how long it takes the spinmeisters to try and debunk this one, I'll go ahead and place bets that Michelle Malkin, She-who-should-not-be-named, Assrocket, Rush the vile pigboy, and the Foxnews saps are already clamoring. I'll stop spamming my FL now.

Hatch responded: "Does he really want to suggest that over half of the United States Senate is a crew of bigots?"

I really think that statement sums the amendment situation up quite nicely.

As for the Marine situation, neither the effect nor the coverup are particularly surprising. Under the current administration the Marines are much less 'semper fidelis' and much, much more 'don't ask, don't tell'. Anyone who doesn't obey orders, whether or not it would be good for the country itself, is likely to be labeled traitorous...and 'lost in action', it seems.

When is Vitter up for re-election?

I'd say that quote and video of New Orleans and coastal LA in ruins would be a perfect Democratic campaign ad.

The process server who contracts with our law office was telling us earlier today that he was once part of that very company of Marines (years ago; not with these particular people). He didn't say that the Marines weren't at fault, but was also saying how they were put in a situation where they didn't have good intelligence, not enough troops for what they were ordered to be doing, and were shorted on supplies, as well. It'll be interesting to see what the defense is when the time comes.
