The only other avenue George Bush could find to embarrass and humiliate the GOP was to fuck their mascot....

(hyounpark wants to know if there's also a picture of him getting kicked by a donkey. *snicker*)

The thing is it's not the democrats who are kicking him, at least not the partisan ones. They're too ineffective. The greatest barbs being thrown at him are from the David Brooks's and Andrew Sullivan's of the right, and from minarchists like Cathy Young and the Cato institute.

... oh! and add the rest of the world! The disdain and incredulity that people around the world have toward the ass is beyond description here. Lack of intellect; abuse of power; incompetence - you'd laugh if it wasn't for the fact that he has created havoc, not just in his own country but around the world too.

Well damage in our political system equals what makes voters here angry enough to vote for someone else or another party altogether. Americans almost never consider the world beyond our borders when casting their votes. This is true for both Democrats and Republicans, and is probably largely true for Greens and Libertarians and non-aligned as well. Our culture hasn't found a way to feel strong empathy for people in, say, China or Mozambique. I think the internet, blogs, and future communication tools may help expand our moral community. So American presidents have learned that they don't take political hits for coddling evil governments in places like Saudi Arabia, because there's no significant domestic consequences that the public here feel. One can say that the islamist attacks on 9/11 are a consequence. Our government dodged taking on the true enemy (islam) and the root causes (U.S. meddling in the middle east casued by our dependence on oil) by making up a pretend war on "Terror", which has really just been an excuse to expand the power of the state at home.

Is that a real photo? It kind of looks like the pachyderm is spliced onto there (good job if it is, though).

"You don't like your new name? But Katrina's pretty!!"
