Okay, I've decided I'm going to try and learn how to make an S2 style by first learning to use CSS. Of course I'm going to get frustrated with both of them and it's a vain effort altogether, I know this. I still don't understand how basic tables in HTML work, I've tried for almost 2 years now and it's still completely foreign to me. I've learned how to make S1 styles and have made several of them, but I need to learn S2. I'm going to start with the S2 Manual, and I've found several communities deicated to S2 styles. Why, you ask, am I interested? Basically because of CSS Zen Garden. I LOVE this site. I especially love the Zen City Morning, Vertigo, and Pinups styles.

I think that once you learn how to properly code in S2, the wizard makes it a lot easier. You can invariably customize it in any way you want at that point simply by using the wizard. I know how invaluable it's been for me in customizing my S2 styles, that's for sure. So - anyone else around this berg have any advice or directio for me? *pokes masterslacker*

My sleeping pills haven't worn off yet, I think. I still feel groggy and there's not nearly enough caffeine in my blood yet. I need a big lunch too. D's watching Stargate Atlantis over my right shoulder and occaisionally giving me hugs and kisses, which are always great. I need to get my lazy ass up and moving, but that's not going to happen any time within the next few minutes I think. And that is MORE than fine by me.

Going to watch a movie here shortly, then head out to get D's laundry done. Ah, Sundays...

HTMLgoodies is where I learned my basic HTML and CSS. They're awesome.

Agreed. That's where I learned HTML as well. As for CSS, I learned by helping in LiveJournal Support when the Customization category existed. :)

I've been wanting to learn CSS for a while now. I'm on an okay basis with HTML, I can code my layouts for s1 but I can't do shit for s2. Sigh.

S2 can be kind of crazy to learn if you've never programmed before. So it may help to learn basic programming techniques and such first. Sadly, I can't really recommend a programming language to learn--Perl is the most similar to S2, but starting with Perl would be crazy, IMO. :)

Also, if you use Firefox, I highly recommend you download the Web Developer extension. It's very useful for troubleshooting HTML and CSS problems. For example, you can tell it to outline table cells or to display the CSS class names of various elements on the page.

And don't hestitate to ask questions if you have them. :)

Hey babe,

Dunno if it'll help, but http://www.visibone.com has all kinds of great cheat-sheets, info cards, mouse pads and such that can help pound these things in your head a little more. The quick-reference foldouts are what I've got and they've been great when I forget the details of a tag or am looking for ideas how to approach a layout issue.

They have dual HTML/CSS cards, too. I recommend that.

I also suggest the Color Lab, which is a free way to mix colors together to see how they will interact with each other on the site.

hey sweetie...this is off topic with your post but i found this and had to send it over your way. love, vesta

am the mother who told her lesbian daughter to invite her girlfriend over for dinner.

I am the father who punished his son for calling you a fag.

I am the preacher who told my congregation that love, not hate, is the definition of a true follower of God.

I am the girl who did not learn the meaning of "homosexual" until high school but never thought to question why two men might be kissing.

I am the woman who argues (quite loudly and vehemently) with the bigots who insist that you do not have the right to marry or raise children.

We are the high school class who agrees, unanimously, along with our teacher, that love should be all that matters.

I am making a difference. Hate will not win.
