Big ups to the Beeb

New Orleans crisis shames Americans.

Wow. Just, wow. Hands up, how many Americans are tired of being shamed around the world as a result of the powers that be failing us common folk at every goddamned turn? *raises hand*

*raises hand* wish our damn government would do something....

*raises hand* and I'm not even an American. But I am living over here and am beyond stunned at the insane scale of incompetence. I can't believe this country's government can't even help it's own people, yet it pisses on endlessly about how wonderful it is and how much it does for everyone else. I wonder - did they accept the 7 million that Australia offered? I was amazed to read about the arrogance of not accepting foreign offers. It shows the level of moral bankruptcy in the Bush Administration to put their own loss of face above much needed assistance. I'm just left scratching my head. I don't know what else to say. I feel sorry that you poor bastards are labouring under such assholes. Jesus Christ if this doesn't end up as a backlash towards the Republicans at the elections next year and in 2008, I think it'll completely crush any faith I might have in this country.

You mean it wasn't already crushed after last year's "election?"

Meh...I never thought Kerry would win. Fear and loathing of the outside world won out over logic, and besides, people vote for candidates that they feel they can relate to and Kerry unfortunately did a poor job of that. Not to mention the GOP machine was in full tilt while most of the Democrats ponced around and cringed whenever Dean said boo.

But after the quagmire Iraq has turned into with no end in sight, and now this - surely there has to be a limit to the bullshit that the average voter can take.

I just posted this in my journal, today, too.

Both hands up, baby.

**stops wiping tears and raises hand**

They'll spin it in their favor no matter how morally bankrupt they'll be required to be.

**continues weeping**

It's their only defense, really. Well, that and extreme denial or accountability.

*swears you in*

Raising both hands!

Yes, this is a disgrace but unless we as a collective people (not big business or politicians) get together and demand change they will continue the status quo.

We're all sitting in our individual homes saying how bad it is, we need to form our own lobbying group (though I think lobbyist should be outlawed) and storm Washington's politicians with our money so our priorities get heard,so we can get things done (like drug companies, oil companies and others do)for all of Americans not just those with millions or power to get what they want and need!

As I've said before, if humility came with public service, imagine what would get done.

*hand raised* and
head hung in shame that we can't take care of our own because the people we elected to do it turned their backs on the needy, because while watching the O'Reilly Ego last night he tried to blame the La. gov. and NO mayor by saying they did not ask for help in a timely manner.
That some media are still apologists for this administration is just way too sick.

To this, I will say as I've said before that both Nagin and Blanco should have had MRE'sand bottled water waiting for people in those shelters knowing full well what was going to happen. For that, I do hold them both acountable - especially the Gov, she only had to make a phone call to see that happen. That's it, though. O'Reilly is just like the rest of Murdoch's cronies, completely separated from reality. Not one o those people represents the interests, needs, or concerns of any blue collar worker in this or any other country, so all responses from them are typical. Being apologists for the administration, while completely shameful, is no less typical of the type. I share in your shame, though. *smooch*
