Bush, Cleland offer clashing views on Iraq war
Ex-senator, Vietnam vet says do it right or get out, Bush lauds effort
The president, noting that the four-year anniversary of 9/11 is approaching, said "since that day, we have taken the fight to the enemy," saying the country has upended "terror cells and their financial support networks" and have taken insurgents on "in foreign lands before they can attack us here at home."

"Our troops know that they're fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere to protect their fellow Americans from a savage enemy.

"They know that if we do not confront these evil men abroad, we will have to face them one day in our own cities and streets, and they know that the safety and security of every American is at stake in this war, and they know we will prevail," Bush said.

For the record, Max Cleland (having actually SERVED his country) came back from Vietnam a triple amputee. Herr Shrub is ONCE AGAIN taking 9/11 and manipulating it to draw ties to Iraq. Fucking bastard, I hate him. The only person I hate more at the moment is the pigfucking preacher who used my cousin Robb's funeral yesterday as an excuse to debunk evolution. I wished I were kidding. Me kicking his ass out of the chapel would have been as inappropriate as his incoherent dissertation on how we could not have 'evolved from a big bang or tadpoles or apes or chimpanzees...', the cunting fuck. He said that shit standing over the goddamned coffin I was about to carry, grinning this plastic fucking grin the whole time.

After the prayers at the gravesite, I walked with the other pallbearers to offer condolances to the rest of my family when this motherfucker had the nerve to stop me, put his hands on my shoulder and whisper (again while smiling) that Jesus loved me. I hissed back at him "Great - you tell him I said thanks..."

If I ever see that rat faced son of a whore, I'm punching him in his goddamned throat on sight.

It simply amazes me how small minded some people are. How limited must his god be if he can't expand his thinking enough to consider the possibility that something so ineffable is incapable of working outside the range of his so obviously limited imagination?

i know that this reply is both unintelligent and rediculous. but that's all i have to say.

What the fuck...?? A funeral is no place to push some neo-con agenda. Jesus, he show some respect for the dead.

NEW YORK (AP) _ A 79-year-old monsignor named as "the other man" in a Westchester County divorce case resigned Thursday as rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the New York archdiocese said.

Cardinal Edward Egan accepted Msgr. Eugene Clark's resignation despite Clark's denials that he has been carrying on an affair with his 46-year-old private secretary, the church said.

"He offered his resignation for the good of Saint Patrick's and the Archdiocese," the statement said. "He will not be celebrating Mass or the sacraments publicly until this matter has been resolved."

Clark was named in divorce papers filed in Family Court in White Plains by Philip DeFilippo, 46, of Eastchester, who claimed that a private investigator taped his wife, Laura, and the monsignor entering and leaving a hotel in Amagansett, on Long Island. The videotape was shown Monday to New York City newspapers.

DeFilippo also claimed that the DeFilippos' teenage daughter was exposed to the relationship.

A call to Clark's lawyer, Laura Brevetti, was not immediately returned. Laura DeFilippo's lawyer, Michael Berger, said he would not comment on Clark's resignation. Both lawyers have previously denied that the monsignor and his secretary had a sexual relationship, accusing Philip DeFilippo of distorting an innocent event.

Clark has been rector of St. Patrick's in midtown Manhattan since 2001 and has often celebrated Mass there when the cardinal was away. In 2002, he blamed the church's sex-abuse scandal on "the campaign of liberal America against celibacy." "Homosexuality became in the American exchange of views a protected area," he said.

Archdiocesan spokesman Joseph Zwilling had said Wednesday that Clark was not asked to step down as rector because unlike priests who were accused of molesting boys, he was not accused of anything illegal and was denying the allegations.

I somewhat know what the funeral was like... Went to my uncle's on Friday.

The minister read a brief bio, then talked about how sure he had accepted Jesus as his saviour... How Jesus died for our sins... and went into some sermon about the greatness of God and Jesus... and how we must accept Jesus if our souls were to be saved.

Forget that my uncle died... it's all about God and his son. I wanted to throw the bastard into the grave.
