I'm not celebrating Halloween this year. Normally it is my favorite holiday, and I love getting all decked out and stuff but this year the spirit of Halloween has completely bypassed me. That and the fact that a few Jesusnazis in my town have decided that since Halloween falls on a Sunday this year that we're going to have to celebrate it on Saturday instead. "You just don't do it on Sunday. That's Christ's day. You go to church on Sunday, you don't go out and celebrate the devil. That'll confuse a child." Or at least so sayeth Sandra Hulsey of Greenville, Georgia. There's a story on CNN.com entitled Halloween on Sunday troubles some Southerners that will kill whatever faith you may have left in people's common sense. Apparently Sunday is also not a good day for independent thought, employment of base logic, or the practical grasp of reason. Slap me if I get sentimental. Another memorable quote: "It's a day for the good Lord, not for the devil," said Barbara Braswell, who plans to send her 4-year-old granddaughter Maliyah out trick-or-treating in a princess costume on Saturday instead.

All over town I'm seeing these campaign type signs on people's (and churches') lawns that say "Protect Traditional Marriage". Within a week or two Damien & I want to make some signs that say "...BY NOT GETTING A DIVORCE, YOU MORONS" and spend an evening very late placing these signs next to those signs. Who locally wants to come along? The more the merrier! I'll take pictures of each and every one placed! I'll even put my gmail address on them!

I would've never thought there were moving Halloween to Sat b/c of churches and stuff. I was thinking it was b/c kids have school the next day and if they move it to Sat, then the kids can stay up longer and get more candy! ;)

See that would just make me get all dressed up and stand out at the end of my driveway with a bucket of candy and waving to everyone cheerfully Sunday morning.

I'm with Arie's plan for costumes and candy and a big sign saying "Keep Halloween Sacred!!" on Sunday.

As for the signs

Dude. You know I'm there.

Hell, I'll drive!!!

Yeah, it's lame. Hearing about this actually inspired me to think up a halloween costume. I'm going as a repressed fundamentalist christian!
