Today is the reconsideration vote on SR 595

Maggie and I are leaving for Atlanta in about an hour or so, we're going to the Capitol building and the legislative building both to lobby our representatives and to show support in opposition of this nonsense. If you're in Atlanta and have the time this morning, try and make it. It's Rally and Lobby Day at the Capitol beginning at 10:00 a.m. in room 506 of the Legislative Office Building. Faith leaders will gather on in Room 506 of the Legislative Office Building (LOB) to speak out against SR 595. Please come to the rally and stay afterwards to lobby your legislators and then be there for the floor vote on reconsideration. The LOB is located across the street from the Capitol on the South (Mitchell Street) side.

Before the rally, join us for a Meet and Greet over coffee at Central Presbyterian Church, 201 Washington Ave. South 8:30-9:30 AM (across from Capitol). After the rally, we will lobby legislators in their offices or at the Capitol. If you can, write a short letter to your own Representative and bring it with you on Monday to give to him or her.

Parking can be a little distance away from the Capitol, but the Georgia State MARTA station is very close. Just get off at the station and head South (up the hill) and Capitol will be right in front of you. The LOB is on the opposite side of the Capitol from the MARTA station.

I would bring the camera and get some pictures, but I'm not sure what their rules are about these things inside the buildings and I'd just as soon play it safe. Will post later this evening and let everyone know what went on. Take care all, be well, and send us good energy both for our trip and in the hope that this thing gets immediately thrown out.
