'Cause I'm goin' straight to hell, just like my mama said, I'm goin' straaaaaaaaight to hell...

People take the smallest things SO SERIOUSLY!

Earlier in an A Perfect Circle community journal, I posted the following:

Since I didn't really sleep much last night and needed a creative outlet, I made a new "A Perfect Circle" inspired Friends layout in honor of our Lord Maynard. I really like all of the new artwork for THIRTEETH STEP, and cannot wait to get the cd and hear the rest of it. Pretty swanky, huh?

One of the replies I got was:

"By calling him Lord Maynard, you have officially done exactly what he preaches against. There is no doubt that hes good, but false idols sweety... common now. You may not be literally worshiping him, but by exercising phrases of that sort, you are doing yourself some subconscious damage. There is much reason to be excited about the new album, but take a step forward and experience the music for what it is on a whole, and not just/mostly focus on what Maynard contributes because beyond the singing and lyrics there is alot going on that I think alot of people miss out on... No doubt his contributions are important, but by avoiding distinction and focusing on the moment/music as a whole, it will be much easier to experience the 'holy reality' (if you are a TOOL fan as well you'll know what I'm talking about.) I'm 99.9% sure that that is what he would want. Good luck."

::sigh::

I dig MJK, there is no doubt about that. I have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for him and I enjoy his work immensely. That all having been said, I don't subscribe to all of his ideals and opinions and cannot recall ever enrolling myself as a member of the Temple Of Maynard. It was, afterall, just something said in passing without a lot of forethought as most lighthearted things are. She's totally entitled to her opinion, but I'm not wearing the "What Would Maynard Do?" t-shirt. I hardly think that disqualifies me as a fan. My reply to her was: Terribly presumptuous of you to make assertions like that when you know nothing of me, nothing at all, but duly noted.

She did say she liked my APC icon, so I told her she could use it. The entire exchange provided a good giggle, I'll give her that!

Silly girl...
