This guy at left if my old friend Chris Elwood
. He's a Columbus, GA native and we met when he was a teenager acting in a local community theater. I didn't like the acting part of working in the theater, but did a lot of work running lights and flys and such. Chris' parents are Bill & Deni, and he has a sister named Heather who owns a children's gym here in Columbus. I first met the family when the Springer (state theater of GA) was doing a production of Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, which I helped do scenes on. Chris played one of the Aggies, and his mother played Miss Mona. His father has done some acting and a lot of work behind the scenes, and Heather has done some as well.
When Chris was in high school, his parents separated for a short time and his mother rented an apartment in the same building as me. We were alread acquainted through friends, but it wasn't until Deni lived underneath me that I really began to know the family. Once his parents got their issues worked out and bought a new home, I lost touch with them until a few years ago when I started taking Avery to Heather's kid gym, and her father was there. I got quickly reacquainted with him, and saw Heather several times afer that. They told me that Chris was in LA and was acting whenever he could get work, and that he was happy.
I know that a few years ago he had a part in the movie How High
, there are stills of him here
, and here
Imagine my surprise last night when I was watching the new Bravo show called Flipping Out
, and lo-and-behold Chris is one of the castmembers! You can see his bio video here
. He hasn't changed much, except his hair is a bit darker than I remember. When he was younger it was very blonde, and because of that and his height a friend of mine nicknamed him Bamm-Bamm.
Way to go, Chris!
