Just like it was meant to be.

I've just gotten off the phone with an old friend of mine that I knew from my early Atlanta days, and have reconnected in a way that has completely amazed me. We talked on the phone for 5 1/2 hours, which I NEVER do. Add to this the fact that this woman is one of my lifetime musical heroes, and I've come full circle with her in a few short hours. All of which felt completely organic and we were finishing one another's sentences. We've pledged to stay in touch and will be talking a lot more often from now on as a result.

I'm not going to share the content we covered this evening, that is for us alone - but many stories were told and many roads once traveled revisited with a whole new set of senses. Lots about the music, mostly about the human condition and our collective place(s) in it.

There's something to be said for being patient and vigilant, and knowing that some things are simply meant to be. This friendship is definitely one of them.

I am just completely elated right now. I would write more, but have to get some sleep so I'll have the energy to help clean up a friend's house and neighborhood tomorrow from storm damage that happened yesterday.

What a fucking phenomenal day I've had. True happiness doesn't come by me often, I really stop and pay attention when it does because of the nature of it being such a fleeting thing for me. But I gotta say, when it feels like this, what a validating and sustaining thing it is!
