Pro Life

(no subject)

John McCain is a completely pathetic twatwaffle.

The only people more pathetic and detatched from reality are his fan club members, Bill Kristol, Everyone at Fox News, and - well - Republicans in general. Perhaps Lindsay Graham (R-Automaton) - but they're neck and neck. Oh - and FUCK Brit Hume also. Just because.

See/read this: Winning Hearts & Minds in Iraq.

It takes a good look at the conditions of our troops and the Iraqi citizens and makes you wonder how we're ever getting out of this mess and what the long term damage to this country will be as a result of it all. I'm not optimistic. Matter of fact, it's shit like this that encourages an insurgency in the first place. Imagine if Iraqi forces tried to pull that shit here. I'm just sayin'.

I live 15 minutes from Fort Benning - I know a lot of people who are on their 3rd and 4th tours there, and their nerves are stretched to their limits - as well as their families, and on the top of it they're getting royally fucked for it. Soldiers who were coming to Walter Reed two years ago with severe wounds were being offered to retire at 15%, and this was before the hospital closing! Who would sign on for that kind of treatment if it meant putting their lives at risk, possibly leaving behind spouses, partners, and children who will never understand why such a sacrifice was made under these pretenses?

It's just insane, and it makes me really sad that we're sending our sons and daughters over there for NOTHING. If what we're bringing to Iraq is democracy, then democracy is a consummate failure.

Hat tip to kyra for this one

This is genius - and by genius, I mean "IN YO FACE, FUNDIES!!!"
DOMA's "Logical" Conclusion

Seattle, WA - The Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance (WA-DOMA) announced on Thursday that their proposed initiative to make procreation a requirement for legal marriage has been accepted by the Secretary of State and assigned the serial number 957. The initiative has been in the planning stages since the Washington Supreme Court ruled last July that the state's Defense of Marriage Act was constitutional.

"For many years, social conservatives have claimed that marriage exists solely for the purpose of procreation," said WA-DOMA organizer Gregory Gadow in a printed statement. "The Washington Supreme Court echoed that claim in their lead ruling on Andersen v. King County. The time has come for these conservatives to be dosed with their own medicine. If same-sex couples should be barred from marriage because they can not have children together, it follows that all couples who can not or will not have children together should equally be barred from marriage. And this is what the Defense of Marriage Initiative will do."
Ah, sweet sweet schadenfreude...

So here's my dilemma. Somehow (still not 100% sure, and not that I care because it's irrelevant) my email address is being serious spammed out. I had to set up Spamato for my Thunderbird client, but I really don't like Spamato, and I've already gotten 160 spam emails today alone - and it's only 2:51PM. I love Thunderbird, but Jesus - enough is enough already.

Should I scrap my email address, create a new one, and then go through the tedious process of emailing eveyone I know and resetting my email to all the websites/news agencies I'm a member of, or is there a better way to handle this?

What say you - I need advice.
