NBC rejects TV ads for Dixie Chicks film

Okay - trying REAL HARD not to lose my cool here. This is after all the network that brings us Law & Order, Oprah, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Scrubs, Fear Factor, Will & Grace, and SATURDAY NIGHT MOTHERFUCKING LIVE. From Think Progress:
The Dixie Chicks Ad NBC Doesn’t Want You To See

NBC is refusing to air an ad for the new Dixie Chicks documentary, “Shut Up & Sing.” Variety reports, “NBC’s commercial clearance department said in writing that it ‘cannot accept these spots as they are disparaging to President Bush’”.

Harvey Weinstein, who is distributing the movie, issued the following statement:

"It’s a sad commentary about the level of fear in our society that a movie about a group of courageous entertainers who were blacklisted for exercising their right of free speech is now itself being blacklisted by corporate America. The idea that anyone should be penalized for criticizing the president is profoundly un-American."
Here's the now-banned ad:

Do me a favor and write an intelligent and strongly worded opinion to the NBC network - tell them what you think about this matter as an American opposed to censorship, fascism, and totalitarianism, OR Dial 212-664-4444 now to be connected with the NBC switchboard. C&L has more.

Rush Limbaugh/Michael J. Fox

For those who haven't seen it all yet, here are the clips where Rush The Vulgar Pigboy Limbaugh accuses Michael J Fox of faking his Parkinson's disease and MJF's interview with Katie Couric where he responds to the ensuing hoopla. First, the Limbaugh attack:

Now the response from Michael J. Fox:

Family Values

From AmericaBlog:
BREAKING: George Bush endorses civil unions and legal benefits of marriage for gay couples

Okay, this isn't "breaking" news because it happened two years ago, but the mainstream media seems to have forgotten. So in an effort to remind them, and get them to do their job, here is the original ABC footage from two years ago in which George Bush specifically endorses civil unions, and the legal benefits of marriage included therein, for gay couples. This guy couldn't give a damn about "family values."
