Some of you may remember that back in May, the Salvation Army threatned to close soup kitchens for tens of thousands of New York’s homeless and walk away from other projects if the city enacted legislation requiring firms that do business with New York to offer health benefits to the partners of gay staffers. Even Target stores got into the fray and decided to kick the bell ringers to the curb.
This pissed me off in a big way.

True, the Salvation Army does a lot of good, for which they should be commended. It wouldn't really hurt them if a few hundred thousand people made statements about this sort of thing when their bell ringing soldiers are out trying to collect money. I am personally not annoyed as much as some people are by the bell ringing, but if that's your thing then you'll love
Print the picture of the custom 3 dollar bill below and cut it out. Print several copies if you must.
Give them out to friends at Giftmas parties, and take them with you when you go to do your holiday shopping. Drop them into the red pail of a bell ringer this holiday season, and put your money where your mouth is. Then go home and put your mouth somewhere more interesting...
By all means, link to this post!
In other news, one of my favorite restaurants in town burned up last night. Deorio's is no more, and neither is Hilton Hear B&G upstairs from what I understand, as this is where the fire started. Makes me glad I had lunch there this past Saturday, who knows if they'll rebuild. Very sad indeed.
