MRI Images
6th-Jul-2012 11:34 pm (UTC)
This is a comparison from the first image, which was a year and a half ago and the one from Monday. First image is a herniated, degenerative disc (L-5/S-1 is correct) was taken prior to my discectomy surgery 6 months ago. Same herniation, only less of the actual disc left to do so. Second two images are with contrast and without, 4 days ago.

The MRI was ordered because I'm also showing a lot more neuropathy in the past year and because I'm showing several signs/symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, & muscular dystrophy - or a combination of, well, you get the point. MS was mentioned specifically by the surgeon after seeing a fresh X-ray of my lower lumbar 2 months ago.

I've applied for SSI disability, because I'm no longer able to work. I have mostly good days, but the bad days are pretty bad. Those days I'm lucky to walk WITH my cane.

I have nothing to complain about otherwise, life is great and I live in paradise with the love of my life. I'm surrounded by love and my beautiful desert, and I get top notch medical care. Regardless of what Dr. #8 says when we go in for the MRI results on the 18th to find out if I have a neurological disease, and regardless what the surgeon who operated says is next (most likely spinal fusion, DON'T get me started), I'm ready for answers so I can know what the fuck I've got to deal with, handle my shit, and make a life in spite of any circumstance.

All is good, all is love.

Aw, shit. I'm really fucking sorry, man. We have the same back shit going on (at the same spot even) and it's horrible.

I hope you find the answers you need and the help you deserve.

Hey lovey, it is what it is. I just want to know so that I can get treated properly and learn what to do to move forward. Know what I mean?

Likewise, and keep me in the loop on this thread!

I'm sorry to read all that. I didn't know your health was not good. I have a friend diagnosed almost 13 years with MS, in her forties, doing really pretty well, so there's hope.

There's a lot to think about, but nothing to worry about - at least not until it's time. *huggage*

I do admire your spirit. <3

Shit to, well, the shit you-n-y'all are going through.

Yays to the spirit.

Also, one of my dearest friends in Atlanta was diagnosed with MS a few years ago. When the time is right for you, if the time is ever right for you, let me know and I'll make e-introductions if you'd like a sounding board of someone who capital-k Knows.

Right on man, and thanks! You're my favorite, but don't tell anyone... ;-}

Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite drug in the world, Nucynta! It's got the same pain relieving properties as oxycodone, ridiculously low side effect profile (literally the only thing it does to me is screw my sleep schedule a little, pause for everyone to laugh and say "who could tell" but I started taking it and my 'day' went from 28h to 36h or so) and actually doesn't get eaten by my liver as fast as any of the other drugs metabolised by the cytochromes I have too many of (although I still have to take the extended release version three times a day instead of two).

Only downside is that it's new and it's expensive, but if you have decent insurance and can afford the copays (it's $75 for me every 30 days, and if I didn't have the insurance it'd be $500/30d because I have to get #90 rather than #60 for a 30 day supply), it's definitely worth a try if for no other reason than it doesn't bring the brainfog.

Hey babylove!!! I'll ask about that one for sure when I see the neurologist. They put me on Norco, which helps and I HAVE to have one or two at a time, but never more than 4 a day, though my orders are 1-2 every 4 hours as needed for pain. Yeah - that bothers me, I want something that won't fog me out like Oxycodone, nor be like an acid bath for my liver. As it is, there are so many residual drugs lingering from the 80's & 90's in that thing that just staring at it would induce hallucinations, bouts of extreme rage &/or violence, creative visions of some sort, and unbelievable stories of amazing sex over 3 decades. I don't wanna brag, but DAMN. There's a reason the other alter on here exists!

Thanks for that heads up and also I miss your face and the sound of you explaining ANYTHING, ever. <3<3<3<3<3

Now this is something we shouldn't gloss over. It made me smile big. :)

Ugh, wow. Great attitude about it though!

I'm fine -- certainly can't complain, especially not after that! Busy but it's all good.

I'm a Tonka boy, babe - takes a lot to put me on my ass and even more to make sure I'm not getting back up. Simple logic and reason keep me driven and motivated.

You have a right to complain about anything that affects you - that's your reality, your life, and what you have to deal with. Unless it's strictly #whitepeopleproblems, because we all could do with some reigning in on that bullshit, right? ;-)
