Double Barrelled
I am compiling a list of links, points of reference, and resources for a write-up that may not happen until Sunday, essentially to prove how this abject BULLSHIT about how the White House/Obama Administration 'declaring war' on Fox News is much ado about nothing. If you have any links that might help, please post them in comments - will credit those who make the effort to do so.

Seriously, it's pissing me off that this is even necessary, but I'm just about half past giving a shit and frankly, otherwise reasonable and logical people are buying into the nonsense - it needs to be set straight for once, so I'm asking for anyone who wants to contribute something here to do so now - I'm short on time, but I really need to do this.

Post as many links as you like in comments citing valid sources where Fox News is flat out lying, being disingenuous, or otherwise - and if possible, counterpoints to debunk their claims. Snopes.com, FAIR.org (Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting), you name it - I want it all, as many sources as you can link to. Please, try to avoid blogs unless they cite credible sources of reference and not just opinion/commentary pieces, there are plenty enough of those - I'm talking brass tacks.

Thanks in advance!

I'm really glad you are taking this on.

I wish I had a lot of stuff to contribute, but the best references I have on things like this usually come from you. *grin*

You mean, like, Fox hiring Bush's cousin to help call the 2000 election before it was over with?

Note: Wikipedia has one valuable use for me as a researcher - it provides external links, and those can be individually evaluated. That said, use these pages for the external links as you judge.

Rachel Maddow's first 15 minutes on Thursday's show lays it out pretty well:

Countdown had a good amount of quotes from Fox last night, too.

(If that doesn't work, it's the #2 story on Countdown for last night, 10/23.)

Rupert Murdoch was just down here - his former home - putting the boot into our progressive prime minister Kevin Rudd. Murdoch's (NEWS Ltd) rags have never been too concerned with accuracy - but they have outdone even their normally appalling record in recent months. First they published semi-naked photos on the front page of the Daily Telegraph (provocative slutty positions and all) which they claimed were of Pauline Hanson when she was a teenager. Hanson is a former politician here - a nasty bigot who appealed to the lowest common denominator and ended up doing time in prison. But the point is that the photos weren't her at all. Big apology published and undisclosed sum paid. Next and much worse, the same NEWS Ltd rag published a front page alleging they had in their possession an email that would bring down the federal government (led by Kevin Rudd). Turns out the email was a complete fake - 100% malicious fabrication - and they hadn't bothered checking their sources. Very red faces at NEWS. Still, (and probably because the Government had a pointed dig at NEWS) Murdoch in the last few days while he was here, has come out fighting - attacked the PM directly in a very unattractive way. What a nasty creep. I'm glad he is no longer an Australian citizen (sorry you got him!) I often recall when thinking about Murdoch, the wonderful late English writer and filmmaker Dennis Potter. He did some amazing work - anyway, Potter had a long battle with cancer - which he fought gallantly and very publicly. He called his tumor 'Rupert' and did nothing to hide who the reference was to. Vale Dennis Potter!
