Who's the bane of YOUR existence? Surely there's someone who pisses you off in such a huge way that it merits flogging, at least. 'Round here, we call that person a RAT BASTARD. Who is the person you most want to rip a new asshole for whatever reason? Go ahead - now's your chance to put them on blast. Start commenting, and have fun gettin' your hate on - and out. IP logging is off and anonymous commenters WERE welcome, but I've had to disable it since I've gotten six tons of bullshit spam comments lately. Sorry about that.

Go on - vent your spleen...

Also, check out/participate in the Friday Confessional and the subsequent Sunday Stoning, brought to you by the fantastic city_of_dis.

Today we revisit my Director at work and her homophobia.

Apparently and I quote "Gay men and lesbians shouldn't have children because children should come from a loving heterosexual relationship."

Oh, at least she said "loving". It's a pity that so many heterosexuals wouldn't oblige her by loving each other after they've bred. Talking from my own observations, and I'm heterosexual myself.

Surprise, surprise - gay men and lesbians aren't going to ask her for permission to have children anyway.

Yeah unfortunately the evil woman doesn't get that being anything other than a cisgendered straight person isn't evil. Oh actually she seems to think of queer people as token fashion accessories.

Only four more working days there and I'm out of there for good thank Goddess. I had my leaving do tonight and oh my... that woman will not shut up. The worst part about it is everyone knows she's struggling with her own internalised homophobia, even her husband knows it and whilst I try to recognise that there comes a point where you just want to do evil things.

Um... I have no idea how exactly internalized homophobia works.
22nd-May-2009 11:33 pm (UTC)
She's bisexual, she knows she's bisexual but she's been brought up to believe that same sex feelings are dirty and therefore beats herself up about having them. I have a fair few out friends who still have internalised homophobia for similar reasons. Their attraction towards the same sex disgusts them.

I'm talking in a nutshell here because whilst I had difficulty in accepting who I was it wasn't because of the same means and I haven't been through it myself, but am going on what the friends that have and still go through it have told me. It's something that's particularly prevalent in my older queer friends who have had a religious upbringing.

I like your icon! :)

We have a very SECULAR form of homophobia where I live (Bulgaria, Eastern Europe, post-communist culture). But I'm familiar with the American religious form too.

Internalized homophobia sounds nasty. I wouldn't envy anyone for feeling like that.

I'm in Britain and the homophobia can be both secular and religious (depending on the area) although I have to say legally we're better off than my American friends. Well that is in most parts of Britain... not my homeland. I'm British but where I live has it's own government separate to the UK government system.

LOL I couldn't help noticing your spelling is British. My English has become very idiosyncratic here on LJ - partly British as it was originally supposed to be, partly American, and the little influences of my native Bulgarian here and there.

How exactly are you legally better off?

The UK has Civil Union throughout (although not all of the British Isles do), America doesn't, the UK also has anti-discrimination laws in place (which still need to be improved on)
23rd-May-2009 12:08 am (UTC)
And we don't even have Civil Union yet, and the struggle for it has just begun.
