It ships on Wednesday, I hope to get it by Friday. I know it's not the MacBook Pro I wanted by any stretch, but it is the most affordable thing I could get in good conscience to meet the needs I have. I are excited!

I put up a better image, this is more in line with what my desktop will look like. We didn't order a new monitor as the one I currently use is 20" and awesome. The actual CPU comes in a sapphire blue case, though. There were several colors to choose from (including actual bamboo or leather bound editions) but I went with blue - it's my favorite.

Blue looks great. But bamboo also sounds appealing..... :)

considering it's a pc, those are actually very nice machines. and you can always install osx86 if you want to run it as a mac. :)

Wow, tell me more!! Where in the world would I even find this? I'm having trouble with that on the Wiki page you link to.

best advice i can give you is start reading thru the installation guides... it's a fair amount of reading but worth it, and considering that you are just now getting the machine, it's better to try this now before getting a ton of data on the machine that you'd need to try and migrate over. :)

hint: you won't download the software from the site because apple frowns upon it (since it lets you run their operating system on none-apple hardware) but there are several links from that page that will point you in the right direction. good luck!

(btw, i'm not purposely being vague...i have friends who've installed this and had great success with it but i've not needed to myself since my only pc is a work laptop and they'd kill me if i put mac os on it...heh. every other machine i have is actual mac hardware.)

I had a Dell laptop that I used as my primary computer for 3 years (2000-2003) with few complaints. I was great, except it had one major flaw: It didnt't react well to having 32 ounces of Coke spilled into the keyboard (and I wouldn't expect many others to do so either). Other than that, I was quite happy with it.

That computer looks like it's easy to tip over.
