BACK DOOR BOY IN A FRONT DOOR WORLD
OUTSIDE OF SOCIETY - THAT'S WHERE I WANT TO BE
Our Economy is the New Weapon of Mass Destruction.

SCANNERS!
Courtesy of Crooks & Liars:
Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Bob Melendez (D-NJ) castigate the Republican policies of the Bush administration that have brought us to this point and how a John McCain presidency will be just more of the same. Senate Democrats:
Refusing to police lenders and neglecting to protect consumers enabled the subprime crisis that has brought first the American economy and now Wall Street to its knees. Bush-McCain Republicans’ “anything goes” approach to governing cost Americans jobs and hurts the American taxpayer. With the economic news only getting worse each day, Democrats believe that we must urgently pass another economic recovery package.
But Bob Geiger got the best statement on the state of the economy and John McCain from Sen. Bernie Sanders:
“One does try to get a handle on understanding what world Senator McCain and President Bush are living in when they would suggest that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong.’ Clearly, they have not been talking to working families around the United States of America.

“My perception of the economy is if you get off of the country club circuit, you stop talking to the millionaires and the billionaires and the large campaign contributors, and you talk to ordinary working people, people who own small businesses, what you find, in fact, is that the middle class in our country is under more assault than has been the case since before the Great Depression.”
Well said.
Of course, you'll never be able to explain this sort of logic and reason to some dumbfucks. The fundamental lessons that should have been learned from the climate of 1929-1941 (which yes, VERY MUCH DOES apply to current times) about living in excess and having capitalism going unchecked and unregulated will eventually spiral like it is.

This coming election is without a doubt in my mind the most important one in my lifetime.

I know, but when I saw the comments from [Unknown LJ tag]xtex that seemed to suggest he was viewing things just in terms of the presidential race and just in terms of Georgia, I couldn't let that go by without comment. It just pisses me off no end when people make excuses for why they aren't doing anything constructive to make change happen.

From reading your journal, I know you are definitely not like that, nor are most of the people who comment in your journal. I'm glad to be able to read the opinions and information you post here, and your journal often motivates me to take action of my own to get America back on track.

I apologize if I came off as being critical of you or the readers of your journal who are working hard to get better political leadership in this time when it is so needed.

Yeah, I'm not going to even pretend to understand that.

I'm constantly writing letters and making calls to my representatives, emails, politicians, you get the idea. This blog in many ways is my place to vent about the things that piss me off.

You have nothing to apologize for, babe. At all.
