BACK DOOR BOY IN A FRONT DOOR WORLD
OUTSIDE OF SOCIETY - THAT'S WHERE I WANT TO BE
Our Economy is the New Weapon of Mass Destruction.

SCANNERS!
Courtesy of Crooks & Liars:
Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Bob Melendez (D-NJ) castigate the Republican policies of the Bush administration that have brought us to this point and how a John McCain presidency will be just more of the same. Senate Democrats:
Refusing to police lenders and neglecting to protect consumers enabled the subprime crisis that has brought first the American economy and now Wall Street to its knees. Bush-McCain Republicans’ “anything goes” approach to governing cost Americans jobs and hurts the American taxpayer. With the economic news only getting worse each day, Democrats believe that we must urgently pass another economic recovery package.
But Bob Geiger got the best statement on the state of the economy and John McCain from Sen. Bernie Sanders:
“One does try to get a handle on understanding what world Senator McCain and President Bush are living in when they would suggest that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong.’ Clearly, they have not been talking to working families around the United States of America.

“My perception of the economy is if you get off of the country club circuit, you stop talking to the millionaires and the billionaires and the large campaign contributors, and you talk to ordinary working people, people who own small businesses, what you find, in fact, is that the middle class in our country is under more assault than has been the case since before the Great Depression.”
Well said.
Of course, you'll never be able to explain this sort of logic and reason to some dumbfucks. The fundamental lessons that should have been learned from the climate of 1929-1941 (which yes, VERY MUCH DOES apply to current times) about living in excess and having capitalism going unchecked and unregulated will eventually spiral like it is.

This coming election is without a doubt in my mind the most important one in my lifetime.

Fair enough, but I'm not defending their shortcomings either - but it has to stop/start somewhere. But let's not pretend that it was the Democrats' legislation or the policies of liberals that create this kind of shitstorm where rich people getting richer at the expense of poor people and the middle class, i.e. most folks we know, because that got started with Nixon and was cheered on my Reaganomics.

Yes, they have all failed in preventing this from happening when you get down to brass tacks, but who set up the failure?

So, basically, you're doing the same thing that you bitch they are doing in exactly the same fashion?

How is making a blanket declaration that will obviously never happen make anything better?

I appreciate that you may be tired of this, I am tired too. But make no mistake - WORSE is coming. We need to amass the evidence. we need to be saying it, over and over again. Make it hard to ignore - not for you, but for the people trying to turn a blind eye.

When a house is burning, you don't ask questions or point blame. History will take care of that. You grab a bucket and start fighting the flames. ESPECIALLY when that house is yours.
