It's been raining here ever since yesterday afternoon when the remnants of TS Fay rebounded and came back through Alabama & Georgia and only just now has the rain stopped. No sooner did it stop when the clouds lifted and it was bright, lemony sunshine everywhere like the prettiest of spring days. Very cool.

This morning the storm sirens went off as there was a bad cell barreling through two towns over, but nothing untoward happened here at all. With any luck the rain will hold off for at least a day or two and I can take Sage & her friend Genesis to the playground after school tomorrow.

Tomorrow marks my halfway point being here, but it certainly doesn't feel like it at all. Time is flying by, actually. I miss home and miss my boys, but I think the break from one another will also do us some good. I do look forward to seeing best beloved on Saturday and having him sleeping next to me that night. We generally don't do well apart from one another after more than a week, so the timing for this worked out just fine.

I really REALLY want a MacBook Pro now, I'm serious. This thing just makes so much more sense than a PC does, and it is incredibly efficient. It took a little getting used to, but I really think I've pretty well gotten the hang of it. What I don't know I can literally ask it and it directs me where I need to be in the most simple language possible. It doesn't hurt that it looks awesome either - plus, the keyboard is perfect for me, it never feels hot, and barely makes any discernible noise.

I would much rather a nice laptop like this one, it would create a lot more freedom in so many ways. The plan is to get a new one next year, but I might have to hold off and save a bit more for something I really want. We'll see!

Thanks, babe - I'm sure it will be. No matter what is going on, it is always a perfect day spent with those you love who love you back.

AMEN for the loving part :))))

And what is it you really want?

A MacBook Pro like the one I'm currently using.

I've been happy by & large with my Mac Book Pro (now two years since I bought it, & it was refurbished) - but it runs very hot & very loud, so I'm wondering: has that improved since then?

I have no idea, because I don't know what they were like before - this is the first one I have ever used.

Any idea how old it is?

About 2 years I think.

I really REALLY want a MacBook Pro now

<zombie>One of us.... one of us....</zombie>

Yeah, once I went Mac there was no looking back. Shiny easy to use interface on top of a UNIX core. For an old school nerd like me, what's not to like? :-)

Hope your trip continues to be a good one!

I've had an iBook G4 for 2.5 years now, getting filthy and worn out but still great .. and also an iMac .. what with Garageband and iPhoto and the simplicity of it all .. I would never EVER go back to anything to do with Microsoft .. I want to replace the G4 with a MacBook Pro too. How come my some has one and I don't .. something is wrong here!

Okay I've checked it out.
I want one too.
Or if not, then I will settle for a laptop that runs Ubuntu or similar.

My old 12" PowerBook ran quite toasty. My current MacBook runs MUCH cooler (even when I'm charging on it). The keyboard is the best. It's just like my iMac and the extra keyboard I got, so I can switch easily from keyboard to keyboard.

I switched to Mac at home a year ago and have never looked back. I still have one WXP here at home for the weather station and to run Quicken (Quicken on Mac still sucks), but that's about it and it sits in the closet.

Thanks for Fay--we need the rain. Watch out for Gustav.
