Fuck you, Orson Scott Card. No, MOTHERFUCK you, you stupid cunt.

Ender's Game was a piece of shit and I'm not the only one who thought so.

SO MANY THINGS WRONG!!!! SO MANY!!!!! I don't even know where to start.

Correction I'll start here:
Why should married people tolerate the interference of such a government or society in their family life?

Fucking moron....Jesus didn't have a loser brother in OH!

he really needs to DIAF

He needs to fuck off and die. Painfully. I refuse to read any of his books, just because he pisses me off so much - and he's the *only* author I've done this with. (to be fair, I tried to read one of his books. And promptly threw it across the room when I was only two chapters in)

He's a homophobe, and he's spouting all the usual dreck and thunder. Jesus really needs to have a talk with him, and I don't mean politely.

Anyone have a spare thunderbolt or a big ol' clue-by-four?
31st-Jul-2008 03:15 am (UTC)
Oh how I wish I had a clue-by-four. I don't know that the grammar bat or ban hammer would really work... then again, they can always be re-purposed.
30th-Jul-2008 07:02 pm (UTC)
Wow. He makes Terri Schiavo look like Hawking.
30th-Jul-2008 07:33 pm (UTC)
Wow. That is simply the shoddiest piece of reasoning masquerading as logic that I have read in a long time. I actually laughed my way through it instead of getting angry.

After all, life is ALL about grandchildren right (snicker)?
1st-Aug-2008 01:51 am (UTC)
And just think what happens if the grandchildren fail to produce great-grandchildren, LOL!
30th-Jul-2008 08:34 pm (UTC)
the sad thing......I actually used to like ender's game.... but that was before I knew how much of a douche Card was
30th-Jul-2008 09:09 pm (UTC)
Just look at his terminology - like it was about the breeding of farm animals. Well, his idea of marriage seems to be very much like that.
31st-Jul-2008 03:14 am (UTC)
Well, for a good Mormon family, they're all about breeding. Bringing as many rugrats into the world as possible, because they have to continue the Stepford family bloodlines!
31st-Jul-2008 07:11 pm (UTC)
As if this planet wasn't overpopulated enough!
Well, I don't know much about the Mormons because they are not very common in my country, in spite of all their attempts to "convert" as many of my compatriots as they can (I live in Bulgaria, that's in Eastern Europe).
1st-Aug-2008 12:39 am (UTC)
I know more than I'd really want to about the Mormons because I was raised Mormon.

Members are usually told to have as many children as possible, as long as they can afford to have those children. Birth control is rarely discussed, and abortion is, of course, verboten.

Somehow, I managed to survive it all!
30th-Jul-2008 09:18 pm (UTC)
I like how, with all his talk of 'the universal, timeless definition of marriage,' he never mentions polygamy. I'm no anthropologist, but I'm sure that polygamy and various other types of formal unions have been around as long, if not longer, than the one man/one woman marriage scheme.

Of course, that is just one of the eleventy billion things wrong with this article. What a douche.
30th-Jul-2008 11:28 pm (UTC)
Of course he wouldn't complain about polygamy - he's a Mormon, and to do so would undermine his own heritage.
30th-Jul-2008 10:27 pm (UTC) - god forbid mandatory books in school tell it like it is
"Do not suppose for a moment that the "gay marriage" diktats will not be supported by methods just as undemocratic, unconstitutional and intolerant.

Already in several states, there are textbooks for children in the earliest grades that show "gay marriages" as normal. How long do you think it will be before such textbooks become mandatory -- and parents have no way to opt out of having their children taught from them?"

Right. We'd rather have books that tell kids the truth, like gays don't really exist, except on the dirty naughty fringes of society, and that dinosaurs never existed either.

Um, and excuse me, what about the school kids with gay parents? Is it so wrong to allow them to see they have a normal loving family life?

This guy needs a good kickin' in.

I liked Ender's Game.. when i was about 11.

This retard wouldn't know what a democracy was (you live in a representative republic, btw, not a democracy) if it shat on his face and pinched his nipples.

Screw him and his Mormon sisterfucking cult 'lifestyle'.

Someone send him to an island where he can't open his stupid trap again.

*shakes head*

Most celebrities, authors, musicians, and artists that I like have views that are so radically opposed to mine it's sick. They're still damn fine artists.

Ender's Game was a good book as far as science fiction goes.

The end.

Card is (was?) a talented writer (I haven't read his stuff in a few decades), but morally, socially, he's just a stain on the genre. He's like the crazy uncle we don't like to talk about. Nothing to see here, people.

You probably saw this already - from Valleywag.com:

You probably saw this already - from Valleywag.com: <a "href=http://valleywag.com/5031093/orson-scott-card-betrays-his-geek-fans">Orson Scott Card Betrays His Geek Fans</a>. One of the best comments was someone saying that they were looking to cut down on the books in their collection, and with Card's comments, they were able to clear an entire shelf!

Card is such a twit, and I just want to know how my childless gay marriage is any different from a childless heterosexual marriage. There is the same love and everything else that makes a good relationship/marriage and a happy family. Also, he's kind of the epitome of what I managed to survive growing up in the Mormon church.

Anyways, I'm so glad that I haven't bothered to read his books. Now I have a reason to never do so!
31st-Jul-2008 03:49 am (UTC)
Ahhh, Orson Scott Card. I tried reading two books of his: Seventh Son and Songmaster. And even though the subject matter in Songmaster isn't glorified (the pedophilia, that is), I didn't get far enough in the book to encounter it.

Now, I wouldn't pick up a novel by Card if you told me $50,000 was wedged between the pages.
31st-Jul-2008 07:19 pm (UTC)
I don't even want to click the link. I remember Card 20 years ago and he was a homophobic asshole then. And very likely a closeted self-hating homosexual.
2nd-Aug-2008 10:37 pm (UTC)
Yes. This.
2nd-Aug-2008 10:36 pm (UTC)
I had no idea.

I actually liked "Ender's Game" and I read it as an adult...after Tarah recommended it to me.

I'd heard he was a douche. I just didn't know why. Now I do.
3rd-Aug-2008 12:54 am (UTC)
I didn't even make it to the end of the article. You'd think I would have learned by now that every time Card opens his trap, idiotic and ignorant bile comes spewing out.
