HA HA HA NO
Dear M. Night Shyamalan,
FUCK YOU. Really. Fuck you to hell.

Great idea, great premise, but FUCK YOU.

Also, kill whatever asshole is writing your dialogue and coaching it.

You are not the first on my LJ friends list to say this. Glad I will be avoiding it. Sorry you had to suffer.

I refuse to go to any of his movies because he can't ever do it right. I don't get it. The Sixth Sense was the only decent movie he has done.

all of the reviews I've seen and reaction from folks who have seen it has been about the same - universal loathing.

I guess I'll be skipping this one

...people still go to see his movies? Fucking hell, I hate his shit, and I adore bad movies.
17th-Jun-2008 02:56 am (UTC)
His movies aren't good-bad. They're just straight bad-bad.

"good bad" and "bad bad" are completely subjective, though. I'm sure that I adore plenty of movies that you'd consider "bad bad." It's Shyamalan's completely undeserved pomposity that I think so soaks his inept movies that drains them of enjoyment, even for those of us who usually love inept flicks.

The Happening would have been awesome if Shyamalan had been a consultant only. In a perfect world, it would have been produced by Kathleen Kennedy/Robert Zemeckis and directed by Lawrence Kasdan.

I stopped watching his films after Signs ("Hi, we're allergic to water, so let's go to a planet where the atmosphere is filled with water!") and after every review I've read of his films, I can see I made a very wise decision.

I hope there is not a killer fern near you that won't put up with that hatin'.

LOL...hon, when my 16-year old son said it was lame, I knew it wasn't worth anyone's time.

I believe this will be the last movie from this hack.

Um, what happens? (I don't mind spoilers. And if you want to reply you could always erase the comment right away so nobody else sees it.)

It had a great message of "stop fucking up the environment", but it was done really badly. The acting was hollow, the dialogue completely juiceless and lacking any flavor at all, and the reveal was in my opinion insulting.

Well ... I've seen more than one movie that started off with a good idea, but it would've been much better if someone who could write had penned it ...

I still say it wasn't a bad movie, it was a good movie, just done badly. I know that makes no sense, but there it is.

I think it was his worst so far - so much could have been done with this and yet it fell flat.

Doesn't matter who warns me or how many times I'm warned, I have to see it all for myself where movies and music are concerned.

I'll bet! The Happening would have been awesome if Shyamalan had been a consultant only. In a perfect world, it would have been produced by Kathleen Kennedy/Robert Zemeckis and directed by Lawrence Kasdan.

*Zemeckis drool ... Back to the Future ...*
17th-Jun-2008 11:08 pm (UTC) - I get that way too.
hee hee, so what you are saying is you think he should be a team player and not try to do it all on his own. I hope he is Executive Producer too, and it is all coming out of his own pocket. How can he continually fuck up so badly? Horror IS a tough genre.

I'm still gonna see it, just to see it for myself.

It's my understanding that he wrote this himself and does all of his films. The reason he broke with Disney is because they suggested that he hire someone else to write the next film because his last two were so stupid.

I haven't seen a film of his since Unbreakable...which I did like. But I guessed the premise of the Village from the Trailer and I didn't see Signs because I detest Mel Gibson.

I only know all this because he films this dreck nearby and lives in my city so he is some hometown hero or something. Ugh.

Damn. Just damn. I liked it. (No, really, no sarcasm)
18th-Jun-2008 01:49 am (UTC)
I've read not one positive review of his movie.
