SCANNERS!
WHAT THE FUCK, PEOPLE?

I am so embarrassed for these people, I truly am. This is the height of stupidity. Just...GAH!

Unless I've underestimated the collective stupidity of this country (and trust me, I'm wondering) there is no way McCain can win in November. Certainly not at the rate he's going.

Eh, that's just typical LJ stuff. It happens in all kinds of fandoms. I bet once a little time passes, the posters in that thread will calm down and use their votes appropriately.

...I hope.

Exactly. Also, hot Bale icon!
10th-Jun-2008 03:04 am (UTC)
To be fair, he did post this the day after her concession speech, so I'm sure people were still on edge. While some of those folks are bitter-enders, others probably will come around over the next few weeks.

I know it took me a couple of weeks to figure out which direction to go after Edwards fizzled out in January.

10th-Jun-2008 03:13 am (UTC)
No, I get that totally - what I don't get is how McCain can even be a blip on the radar if your professed candidate of choice has the majority of views that Hillary Clinton does. Ergo, I default to "they're fucking stupid".

MAKES. ME. CRAZY.
10th-Jun-2008 03:14 am (UTC)
As much as I would hate Obama in office, I would hate McCain even more. And since I can't complain if I don't vote, I'm going to have to vote for Obama.
10th-Jun-2008 03:34 am (UTC)
See, that I can understand at the very least. Thank Darwin for a voice of reason here!
10th-Jun-2008 03:20 am (UTC)
Yes, it's such a disenfranchisement of voters.. one that HILLARY AGREED TO WHEN SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD IT IN THE BAG.

She didn't give a shit about Michigan or Florida until they might have helped her win. Jesus, get a grip people.

Grow up, put on your big girl panties, turn on your brains and look at the doughy spectre of neocon retardation for another 8 years if you vote for McCain because Hiwwawwe's opponent beat her, wahh.

*slams all their collected fuckheads into a wall till they see sense*
10th-Jun-2008 03:27 am (UTC)
Why don't you just shut the fuck up? Your candidate won the nomination. Grow some damned grace, and let us Hillary supporters suffer in peace.

Sorry, AB, but Grimmlok's comment is obnoxious.

Well, I guess I'm glad the folks on "our team" have an in-house place to vent. Novemeber is 1/2 a year away, and better here than on the ballot.
Besides, I've seen gay rodeo meetings that are twice as contentious. (Probably 100x for any Court/Pageant tribunal.) Yet, everyone comes to the rodeo in the end.
10th-Jun-2008 03:30 am (UTC)
Let's hope!
10th-Jun-2008 03:25 am (UTC)
Silly me! I thought you were embarrassed by the schmuck trolling the Clinton community and rubbing it in their faces. I know I am. I feel like smacking the wanker.
10th-Jun-2008 03:27 am (UTC)
Yeah, I would as well - but no, this takes precedent over a retarded troll!
10th-Jun-2008 03:32 am (UTC)
Ugh, so much emo over that one post. They need time to chill out and get a grip on reality again so they can move on. Otherwise, I hope they will just stay at home on election day as the continue to mourn Hillary.
10th-Jun-2008 03:52 am (UTC)
Indeed!
10th-Jun-2008 03:46 am (UTC)
I expected you to chime in and speak your mind. They're nuts! It had to be due to emotions running high.

When things cool down, and people get back to their $4-5 gasoline costs, the war, feeling trampled by the special interest...let's hope they come into their right (or rather, left) mind. :-)
10th-Jun-2008 03:53 am (UTC)
Common sense was killed in the emotional shootout apparently.
10th-Jun-2008 05:45 am (UTC)
I really hate when people let politics get too personal to them. I mean, I get personal too, but I didn't cry when she quit running. Yes, I love Hillary, I voted for her. But, I'm not wallowing about it. I'll vote for Obama even though I don't agree with about 70% of what he does. He'll be better than the other guy.

Also, people need to chill out! Voters of one person shouldn't bash people supporting the other candidate. Maybe I'm naive about it, but I just refuse to think someone is a bad person for supporting a candidate I don't support.
10th-Jun-2008 05:47 am (UTC)
I was shocked at the bitterness and the sense of betrayal. I've read about it, but I've been struggling for months to figure out how Hillary motivates people. She seems so "plastic" to me, in the hippie sense of being phony and all surface.

I guess people who would vote for McCain don't think our life on earth is at risk, that the last 8 years have been a tragic setback for our democracy. I just don't get the animus towards Obama.

10th-Jun-2008 06:10 am (UTC)
This pretty much describes me, as well. I've just been letting Hillary/Obama duke it out to see which one I need to vote for against a third Bush term in November.
10th-Jun-2008 11:14 am (UTC)
I won't be joining their community - if there's a web bug in that invitation message (there is), there's no way I'd join.
10th-Jun-2008 12:50 pm (UTC)
Just posted a reply to that community....
10th-Jun-2008 05:21 pm (UTC)
You did...and I saw it...and I was so happy. But I didn't respond there because I've already had two comments deleted from that thread.

Thank you for speaking up.

I put my thoughts down about this issue here: http://b-a-n-d-i-t.livejournal.com/643681.html

But since that's kinda long, I'll basically say this: the vast majority will come together by November. But right now feelings are still raw.

Once Hillary gets out and starts campaigning for Obama, and folks realize what a John McCain presidency will mean, the page will start to turn. Hillary Clinton supporters are by and large progressive in nature I believe, and I would hope that folks don't make the choice to hurt themselves and the country out of spite, resentment, disappointment and anger.

Cuz make no mistake about it - we'll all be hurt by a John McCain presidency, and those who are intent on "writing in" Hillary's name will ultimately realize that such an action is just like delivering a vote to McCain himself.
10th-Jun-2008 01:39 pm (UTC)
Of course they're stupid. They were supporting Hillary Clinton. :D

I think it would be hilarious if McCain won. In my mind it doesn't really matter that much which candidate wins, it'll just change the flavor of the lies we are told.
