I just let your posts run on, and I listened to your post regarding the documentary "Trembling Before God." It was early morning and you were moved by it, but I did not get what it was that upset you besides the judgmental preachers - as if you needed more, right? Can you talk a bit about what upset you? I will have to put it on my netflix list, if it isn't on there already.

There is a book I'm reading that, in many places in the book, I thought of you and I wanted to send you a copy. It's by Eckhart Tolle, the author of The Power of Now. The book is called A New Earth: Awakening your Life's Purpose. It's about getting in touch with your Being, your consciousness, and about tapping into the world's consciousness, about being the higher consciousness to bring this world into a place of peace and better communication. It strips away fluff and bullshit and places things in their beautiful simplicity. I know you are one to take into account the beauty and sadness that make up our reality; you are one who feels this existence deeply. I don't know, I thought a lot about you when reading this book. Oprah is all about this book, and has podcasts of discussions with the author on itunes and on her website.

What I love about it is I can take things slowly and digest what he is saying, and he isn't selling a religion or a cult or anything like that; he is peeling away to find our inner selves, and how those selves, bathed in love, can bring about the betterment of our mortal lives.

love you!

More than anything, it's the staggering hypocrisy that religion uses as a means of trying to make people into things they aren't, never will be, and never could be - unless they lie, which is perfectly fine. It's as if robbing someone of their identity or the parts that make them a whole person is not only acceptable, but preferential.

That and the complete lack of respect in deciding that certain things (sexuality, for instance here) can be changed if the person wanted to or loved god badly enough - it's ludicrous. It bothers me how many people are so desperate to believe that they'll make these compromises of self and lower their standards so quickly just to fit in, and the grease keeping these machines working is 100% guilt and shame. Religion disgusts me.

I'll add that one to my book list for sure - I'm about 7 books behind at the moment!

I love you too, Nina - always will.

Succinct. I want to watch it, then I get really angry at stuff like that.

I just read a great quote that fits in:
"Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." -John F. Kennedy
