Problem: I have M4A files, rather large ones, that I'm trying to convert to MP3. Nothing I have is working. When I try to encode them, fail. When I try to decode them, again - fail. I cannot burn them to disc from iTunes and then rip the disc, I don't have the option to burn these files as an audio disc in iTunes. FAIL.

Anyone have any ideas?

Nevermind, got it - thanks, all!

Why thank you, my sweet Fela! I understand the need for LJ withdrawal sometimes, BELIEVE ME.

I'm hoping that you're in better spirits, and I offer my condolences for your loss, plus much love and many hugs. ;-)

In Itunes, have you tried creating a playlist that only contains these files and then burning that playlist to CD?

I'm rather iTunes ignorant, but I'm trying that first and it appears to be working - thanks!

Yeah, I'm not that great at Itunes either but we bought a few things from Itunes and it all came in their protected format so I did some searching and came up with that work around. It's kind of annoying when you only buy 1 or 2 songs every few months and have to waste a whole CD on it, but at least there is a pretty easy work around.

Hey B. Get a copy of Protected Music Converter here:

It has a free trial and only costs $19.95. I bought and downloaded it, and use it to convert my entire iTunes library to MP3, for use on any MP3 player or to burn to CD. It's great! :-)

Big hugs to you and D!!

I've just been told how to do it all in iTunes - but thanks for the suggestion!

I'm sure you were told to just go to preferences, advanced and burn to cd as MP3?

I can usually get much higher quality from the encoder I use to rip audio from a burned disc and then tweak the audio in Wavepad, but I had no idea I had that option - thanks for the heads up!

Excellent! For me, I'm synching my MP3 files to a 4 GB Micro SD card, for use in my Blackberry. I just pop the card into my laptop and use another software I found to synch it. I didn't want to have to burn them all to 800 MB CD ROMs, re-import them and then synch. There may be other options now. :-)
