If you really want your head to swim, check out all of the commentary when this was posted on Wired yesterday...

(warning, I was relatively agitated by the time I got halfway through the comments. I just cannot believe how many people are so not down with evolution and/or support creationism, or just have a general ignorance altogether about science/evolution.)

Mike Huckabee is a slimy, dissembling preacher. Why would anything expect anything less?

I really hope that New Hampshire is a sign of things to come for the Huckster... He's the only "viable" candidate that scares me potentially being in charge.

Notice how he tries to win sympathy with the secular community by saying it isn't really a fair question.

The point is: If he believes in his big buddy in the sky - fine. If he has the inclination to push these goofy beliefs into our school system - not fine.

He *did* completely step on his own dick by saying evolution is 'just random chance'.

One of my favorite classes at the Univ of Michigan was my Anthropolgy class taught by Prof. Wolpoff, an Anthropologist who has been on the Discovery channel talking about primitive man and the 'Out of Africa' theory.

I have always believe in evolution, since I was a child, and it just shocks me to this day that there are christian fundamentalist who immediately say 'We ain't from no monkeys!'

Man and primate SHARE a common ancestor that was monkey like millions of years ago. We branched off into what we are today, and primates (chimpanzees, apes, bonobos, etc) branched off into what they are today.

Just one day at a college level anthro class, holding the fossil remains of apelike ancestors that lived over a million years ago is awe inspiring and a complete affirmation of the Evolution theory.

People need to put down their bibles and pick up scientific books which clearly demonstrate, some even in laymen terms, the evolution of all life, not just what we humans are today.

People like Huckabee and those who support him and think like him, are ignorant and ignorant people are not responsible enough to hold the position of President of the USA.

do you have any titles that you would recommend?
i just bought "the origin of the species" (but haven't started
reading it yet) and i would love to have another book or two
to go with it. the more 'layman' the better.
i need to be able to learn it and repeat it with ease...

y'see... i have this born again "friend"... 'nuff said? :)
