Baby Jesus Cry
PZ Meyers has written a new post on his blog about that ridiculous, whiny, doughy pantload Bill Donohue (R-). Remember the story about the student at the university who took the eucharist wafer Jesus cracker from mass? I blogged about it here. Well, since he has nothing better to do, he's stepping up the whining. And what is the catalyst for this you ask? Okay, fine, you didn't ask, but I'll tell you anyway. A YouTuber called fsmdude has posted a series of videos depicting the desecration of the host and people are freaking out because it offends them. So this dumbass decides to try and get YouTube to ban the kid for expressing himself. Let me advise you now that no children were molested in the course of making his videos, I just want to clear that up.

Because being offended is the WORST thing that could happen to them, apparently...
....5....4....3....2....1....aaaaaand back to the happy place...
Thing is, these things only apply to other Catholics. If I want to depict Mohammed in any media I feel like, that's my prerogative - it's only Muslims who are prohibited from such acts, as that constitutes blasphemy and as we all know, blasphemy is bad. Well, unless you're an atheist, and then it's just silly. Or fun. It depends largely on the context. When the Jyllands-Posten controversy happened, Bill Donohue didn't say shit. Then again, there exists nothing outside of Catholic doctrine...

You can buy them wholesale, for fuck's sake, what's so sacred about that? Also, there are no restrictions on who can buy them, so big deal. Yeah I know, they have to be consecrated in order to be magically delicious, whatever.

Not everyone is going to like you, not everyone has to, get over yourselves! You're the same people who get all freaked out at the notion of Muslim extremism, you're terrified when words like 'jihad' and 'fatwa' get tossed around, and yet a kid finding creative ways to use a cracker - A! FUCKING! CRACKER! - is what really rattles you guys? What a pussy religion Catholicism is.

By the way, I added the box of 1,000 Communion wafers to my Amazon.com wishlist in case anyone feels the urge to assist me in debauchery.

CRACKA!
Student Who Took Religious Icon Eucharist Wafer A Goddamned Cracker Getting Death Threats
SOURCES:
(Fox Orlando, as well as multiple links in post)

Death threats. Srsly.
Webster Cook says he smuggled a Eucharist, a small bread wafer that to Catholics symbolic of the Body of Christ after a priest blesses it, out of mass, didn’t eat it as he was supposed to do, but instead walked with it.

Catholics worldwide became furious.

Webster’s friend, who didn’t want to show his face, said he took the Eucharist, to show him what it meant to Catholics.

Webster gave the wafer back, but the Catholic League, a national watchdog organization for Catholic rights claims that is not enough.

“We don’t know 100% what Mr. Cooks motivation was,” said Susan Fani a spokesperson with the local Catholic diocese. “However, if anything were to qualify as a hate crime, to us this seems like this might be it.”

We just expect the University to take this seriously,” she added “To send a message to not just Mr. Cook but the whole community that this kind of really complete sacrilege will not be tolerated.”

Webster just wants all of this to go away. Especially now that he feels his life is in danger.

University officials said, that as for right now, Webster Cook is not in trouble. If anyone or any group wants to file a formal complaint with the University through the student judicial system, they can.

It that happens, Webster will go through a hearing either in front of an administrative panel or a panel of his peers.
Oh, where do I even begin. Let me go ahead and get some feedback on this abject bullshit fucktardery from some others. First, the wonderful and amazing PZ Myers gets the first take in his post IT'S A GODDAMNED CRACKER!. This consequently caused the big vein in that fat fuck Bill Donohue's head to pop, elliciting this response from Jesus' self appointed microcephalic fuck puppet and mouthpiece for the unbelievably hypocritical Catholic League, but not before calling the act of taking a cracker from church an outright terrorist action holding Jesus hostage. No really, follow the link - I couldn't come up with that on my own. PZ has already fired back a response. Jesus General weighs in:
In the first day alone, Myers received:
39 pieces of personal hate mail of varying degrees of literacy...Four of them have included death threats, a personal one day record. Thirty-four of them have demanded that I be fired. Twenty-five of them have told me to desecrate a copy of the Koran, instead, or in some similar way offend Muslims.
Being that I'm exceptionally virulent in my position against the Catholic church, I really wished they'd lay off the crackers and get more serious about all of the kid fucking. 'Cause ya know, that's a metric fuckton more important than crackers ever will be. It won't happen though, because their leaders are fucking stupid and full of shit that way.

DHS Considering Shock Bracelets For All Airline Passengers

This is some unconscionable fuckery.
A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser®. According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers.

This bracelet would:
• take the place of an airline boarding pass

• contain personal information about the traveler

• be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage

• shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes

The Electronic ID Bracelet, as it’s referred to as, would be worn by every traveler "until they disembark the flight at their destination." Yes, you read that correctly. Every airline passenger would be tracked by a government-funded GPS, containing personal, private and confidential information, and that it would shock the customer worse than an electronic dog collar if he/she got out of line?
Denning of the Washington Times provides links (here and here) to pdf's of two pages of a letter written by Paul Ruwaldt of the Department of Homeland Security's Office Research and Development detailing DHS's interest in the product. The letter states that DHS is interested in the use of the product primarily as an aid to law enforcement for border security purposes, but also describes its usefulness aboard passenger planes or "anywhere else, for which the temporarily (sic) restraint of large numbers of individuals in open area environments by a small number of agents..."
Seriously? Fucking SHOCK BRACELETS?

I think I'm going to be ill.

Go Obey Your Husband You Stupid Republic
I'm a fan of the show 30 Days on the FX network. I believe it is the best reality TV program available. My favorite episodes are those that deal with religious differences and socioeconomics because they are topics I'm interested most in. The episode where the Christian man goes to live with a family of Muslims in a largely Muslim community (Muslims & America) was fascinating and enlightening, mostly because the man got the most he could out of his learning experience and came away with understandings he never would have had on his own. The cornfed boy next door guy who went to live in San Francisco with a gay man (Straight Man In A Gay World) and immersed himself in gay culture was also very good, you had the opportunity to see someone evolving in much the same way. In the first season (we're not halfway through season 3) the show's creator, Morgan Spurlock (whom most will know from his documentary Supersize Me) and his fiancee had to live on minimum wage - to include ALL of their living expenses (rent, utilities, healthcare, food, transportation, everything) for 30 days (Minimum Wage). It was amazing. This season alone they've done a remarkable episode where a former NFL Cornerback had to live in a wheelchair for, you guessed it, 30 days (30 Days In A Wheelchair).

Last night's episode absolutely gobsmacked me. I have cried myself into a headache over it. It was about a gay couple and their three adopted sons who have a Mormon woman come and live with their family. The woman's name is Kati, and she is virulently opposed to same sex adoption. [info]lolasenvy posted a scathing response about it, and I have to say that I feel essentially the same way she does.

Once again, as evidenced by this show, you see how religion poisons everything - to quote Christopher Hitchens. Episode synposis:
30 Days - Season 03, Episode 04: Same Sex Parenting
PARTICIPANT - Kati, 41
RESIDES - Fullerton, CA
OCCUPATION - Substitute Teacher
AIRDATE - Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Kati believes that children should be raised by a mother and a father and not by same-sex parents. As the mother of two adopted sons Kati believes that she has ample experience to determine what kind of environment is conducive to healthy, successful adoptions. In fact, Kati was adopted as an infant herself.

For 30 Days, Kati will live in Ypsilanti, Michigan with domestic partners Dennis and Thomas Patrick and their four adopted sons: Josh, 11; Paul, 8; Joey, 8; and Raul, 6. The Patrick's have been together for 10 years, and in 2001, Thomas legally changed his last name to Patrick. Kati will attend church with the family, help the boys get ready for school each morning and talk candidly about her views on parenting and gay adoption as she observes how the Patrick's parent their boys.

Kati will volunteer and travel to the state capitol with the Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality (CARE), a children's advocacy group lobbying for legislation to legalize dual-parenting rights for same-gender couples. She will socialize with women from the Lesbian Mom's Network, a group that connects lesbian mothers and their children with families like their own. She will also meet with former foster children who talk about what it's like to grow up without parents or a permanent home and the need for more foster parents.
It's not available just yet on Hulu and I'm not sure when it will reair on FX, but if you're impatient and don't want to wait you can download the torrent here. I highly reccommend having this episode handy and sharing it with as many people as possible. Once you've seen it, I'm interested to know your thoughts.

Teacher in trouble for burning crosses on kids

Board votes to fire him, says he was preaching Christianity
In this photo released by the school district in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a student with a branded cross on his arm is shown.
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - A school board in central Ohio voted Friday to move ahead on firing a science teacher accused of preaching his Christian beliefs in class and using a device to burn the image of a cross on students' arms.

The Mount Vernon school board voted 5-0 to pass a resolution of intent to terminate the contract of middle school teacher John Freshwater.

Board attorney David Millstone said Freshwater is entitled to a hearing to challenge the dismissal. A lawyer for Freshwater said he will request such a hearing.

A report by independent investigators found that Freshwater also taught creationism in his science class and was insubordinate in failing to remove a Bible and other religious materials from his classroom.

School board members gathered a day after consulting firm H.R. On Call Inc. released its report. The community is about 40 miles northeast of Columbus.

The report comes one week after a family filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Columbus against Freshwater and the school district, saying Freshwater burned a cross on their child's arm that remained for three or four weeks.

Inverted Cross
Someone is selling what they claim, in horrid grammar, is the cross that Jesus Christ died on. Jesus even autographed it. On eBay, of course. I could not make this up, y'all:

We have recently discovered the wooden cross that Jesus Christ died on. It was recovered and burried in a tomb in Jerusalem, Israel.

This wooden cross is the only proof of Jesus Christ dieing for our sins. Within this cross has Jesus Christ bloodline engraved and soaked in the wood.

Since the day we bought this from Israelites I been having dreams of Jesus Christ Returning to earth and has been blessing me with fortune and fame.

Im only selling this to once and for all prove Jesus Christ is real and did sacrifice himself for our sins.

God Bless

Starting bid is US $1,000.

Wife of N.C. state Senator pens hate-filled op-ed
The wife of a conservative North Carolina state senator sponsoring an anti-gay, anti-family marriage amendment has penned a hate-filled, factually inaccurate opinion piece for the radical Right-wing Christian Action League website

The piece, written by Mary Frances Forrester, the wife of Sen. James Forrester (R-Gaston County), was published Feb. 29, but it took me quite a bit of time to sift through information on some of the topics she addressed. I was going to make a rebuttal to Mrs. Forrester’s op-ed the focus of my next Q-Notes editorial, but repeated attempts to contact Mrs. Forrester failed. Because I could never get in touch with her to get a list of sources she used in constructing her op-ed, I didn’t feel comfortable writing on it for the paper.

Her piece begins with an excerpt from the Feb. 15, 1987 issue of the now-defunct Gay Community News (Forrester inaccurately dates the excerpt to 1986):
We shall sodomize your sons…We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms…in your youth groups…Your sons shall become our minions and do our bidding…They will come to crave and adore us. All laws banning homosexual activity will be revoked. Instead legislation shall be passed which engenders love between men. Our writers and artists will make love between men fashionable…We shall raise private armies…to defeat you. The family unit will be abolished. Perfect boys will be conceived and grown in the genetic laboratory…All churches who condemn us will be closed. Our only gods are handsome young men. All males who insist on remaining stupidly heterosexual will be tried in homosexual courts of justice and will become invisible men. Tremble, hetero swine, when we appear before you without our masks.
The piece was originally written by Michael Swift, although Mrs. Forrester mistakenly attributes the piece to “Mark Swift.” Unfortunately, there isn’t much information available on Swift’s original intent, save for the plethora of comments on his words from the anti-gay radical right. I contacted friends and colleagues to get more information about the writing.

I was eventually able to get hold of the original text. Mrs. Forrester conveniently leaves off the beginning of Swift’s original piece:
This essay is an outré, madness, a tragic, cruel fantasy, an eruption of inner rage, on how the oppressed desperately dream of being the oppressor.
Outré — defined as “violating convention or propriety.”

The best use of outré in this instance, however, is found in the word’s French origin: “to go beyond, carry to excess;” also, to exaggerate.

As friends have told me, Swift’s piece is a “tongue-in-cheek with righteous anger reply to the homophobes,” or “very high satire — not humor, exactly, but certainly a piece of extreme and even melodramatic expression of frustration, anger and had-it-ness by the author.”

Further, some have told me they believe “Michael Swift” to be a nom-de-plume. “I believe that the author was riffing on work of Jonathan Swift, thus his choice of last name,” a colleague said.

Letter From A Future Prisoner
by Janet Folger
World Net Daily
Nov. 20, 2010

To the Resistance:

I'm writing this letter from prison, where I've been since the beginning of 2010. Since Hillary was elected in '08, Christian persecution in America has gotten even worse than we predicted.

When the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" was signed into law, my radio program was yanked off the air along with all the others that dared discuss moral issues on Christian radio. The networks just couldn't bring themselves to air a pro-abortion program or one that advocates the homosexual agenda for the government mandated "balance" because broadcasting lies went against their basic beliefs ? I don't blame them.

We knew "Thought Crimes" was in danger of becoming law back when it passed Congress in 2007, but thankfully, President Bush kept his promise to veto it. But, tragically, Hillary signed that most dangerous bill in America ? ushering in the criminalization of Christianity. And now, even my book, "The Criminalization of Christianity," has been banned as "hate speech" just as I predicted when I wrote it back in 2005.

When the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act" ("Thought Crimes" for the Workplace) became law, businesses and ministries were targeted by homosexual activists and were forced to close when they wouldn't comply with a law forcing them to hire those opposed to their beliefs on moral issues.

When they canceled my program, banned my book and targeted my ministry, I knew it was only a matter of time before I'd be forced into "prison ministry" against my will. Unfortunately for our nation, that ministry is growing fast. A homeschooling mom was assigned the cell next to me. I try to comfort her, but she cries constantly at the thought of her kids being raised in government foster care.

[...]
Immediately after I reached the end, my teeth jumped out of my head, turned around, and ate my brain. Read the whole "WAAA WAAA WAAA, I'M A PERSECUTED CHRISTIAN, MY PUSSY HURTS!" drivel here. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Religious Right Claims Others Can't Be Christian, Have Values
The Family Research Council is launching a project aimed at convincing its supporters before the 2008 election that liberal politicians “are spouting God-talk” in order to “confuse people of faith” and hide their “true agenda.” Invoking the Religious Right’s recent favored phrase for its imagined constituency – as well as the “Swift Boat” campaign of 2004 – the so-called “Values Voters for Truth” campaign is an attempt to vilify liberals – and, obviously, Democratic candidates – as enemies of Christianity who are undertaking a conspiracy to “deceive and split values voters.” From a recent fundraising letter from FRC Action:
Our relentless effort to reveal the facts about the Left’s true agenda is already under way. It will not stop until the last vote of the 2008 election has been cast. The Values Voters for Truth campaign will partner with organizations in all 50 states—and at the national level. We will mobilize values voters, engage them in the war of ideas, and keep them informed and involved.

We will rally churches to the cause. And by God’s grace, we will neutralize our opponents’ deceptive tactics.
As an example of this supposed “fraud,” the letter cites a Democratic presidential candidate who spoke of his “belief in Christ” and also supports civil unions for gay couples. Similarly, the letter warns that a candidate noting a “biblical call to feed the hungry” also voted against an anti-abortion bill. A third candidate is denounced for the “hypocrisy” of wanting to let gay couples adopt children. According to FRC, these supposed contradictions indicate that Democrats discussing their faith and values is merely “lip service,” part of a “campaign of deception” that led directly to the Democrats winning control of Congress in the 2006 elections.

FRC’s tactic of trying to claim “values” and “faith” as Religious Right-only attributes is hardly new – it was the driving force behind the group’s “Values Voter Summit” last year, organized before the elections to encourage a disillusioned base to turn out for Republicans. It is also the premise behind cries of “anti-Christian persecution,” such as at the “War on Christians” conference, at FRC’s “Justice Sunday” events (in which opposition to right-wing judicial nominees was presented as an attack on “people of faith”), and with “Patriot Pastor” political machines that warn of the “forces of darkness” trying to “deny America’s Godly heritage.”

And as political candidates are finding their way around the Religious Right’s exclusionary façade, right-wing activists have brought the tactic to the 2008 campaign trail, denouncinga June forum of presidential candidates on “Faith, Values, and Poverty”as a “conspir[acy] to create a fictional class of Christians -- so-called 'liberal evangelicals,'” as Rob Schenck of the National Clergy Council, who protestedthe event, put it. “Liberals have no trouble believing in God – or a faith belief system – as long as He marches to their drum,” claimed Jane Chastain. Columnist and former Moral Majority lieutenant Cal Thomas wrotethat the candidates “gave no indication that if their faith ever conflicted with their political point of view they would choose whattheir faith taught them over what focus groups tell them.”

According to Gary Bauer, “religious voters” don’t credit these Democratic candidates because, for them, “the traditional cultural issues are pivotal.”But while religious-right activists continue to claim that their wedge issues – primarily abortion and gay marriage – determine the way“values voters” vote, that’s not the case, as a 2006 survey by PFAW Foundation’s Center for American Values in Public Lifeshowed. Only 5 percent of Americans – and just 10 percent of Evangelicals – chose those issues as most important in deciding their votes. Abortion and gay marriage also ranked last when people were asked what “voting their values” meant – in spite of the Religious Right’s campaign to convince them otherwise.

Here’s more from FRC’s letter describing its “Values Voters for Truth” project:

Just three short years ago, you and others like you sent the politicians in Washington an unmistakable message.

You took a stand for traditional marriage—and against the homosexual agenda. You told the secularists that you treasure America’s Judeo-Christian heritage and biblically based values. You reminded those in authority of the higher power that has guided and blessed us since our founding … that America is still one nation under God!

The good news is, you got their attention.

With their disastrous defeat in the 2004 elections, liberals were finally forced to confront a cold, hard fact—their long history of hostility toward Christians and other people of faith was costing them dearly at the polls. So they set out to solve the “problem” of what they call “religion right in politics” [sic]—meaning socially conservative ideals.

Leaders on the Left knew they couldn’t change their radical views and still appeal to the homosexuals and the abortion crowd. So instead they decided to hijack the language of faith in order to hide the truth about their real agenda.

By the time the 2006 elections rolled around, even the most liberal congressional candidates began sounding like “God and country” conservatives. The strategy worked—the Left’s smooth talk fooled just enough values voters to put them in control of both the House and Senate.

[… O]f course, FRC Action—the legislative action arm of Family Research Council—is not sitting idly by while the American public is fooled.

We’re launching the Values Voters for Truth campaign, a nationwide initiative to expose liberal “values” hypocrisy, education the public and politicians about where values voters really stand, and neutralize efforts to deceive people of faith into voting against what they believe. […]

We’ve already started this plan. We’re working relentlessly. And we will work until the last vote of the 2008 election has been cast.

I've written before about Christian Reconstructionism. Part of what I'd read about this before was a piece Mother Jones posted a while back called "A Nation Under God" that is a really good read.

Christian Reconstructionism is essentially a religious and theological movement within Protestant Christianity that calls for Christians to put their faith into action in all areas of life. The thing is, they want this to be the rule of the land, which means that ideally every nonchristian will be converted and likeminded. Forget that it'll never happen for a second and consider the fanaticism behind such an ideal. Remind you of anyone? Then again, I've always maintained that there is a fine line between the Islamists and the Christian Fundamentalists, mainly because I have a huge problem with biblical inerrancy.

The reason I posted this in the first place is because of something I read this morning on AlterNet. It's a new post in Church & State that I recommend reading called "Christian Reconstructionists Are Trying to Take Dominion in America -- and They Have Powerful Friends".

Copernicus Was Wrong? : The Flat Earth Temptation
Influential Christian right leaders say the Sun revolves around the Earth
by Bruce Wilson

Geocentrists accept a spherical earth but deny that the sun is the center of the solar system or that the earth moves.... The basis for their belief is a literal reading of the Bible. [source]

An emergent scandal over a Texas Republican Party politician's distribution of a memo citing a "fixed Earth" website alleging the Earth to be non-rotating and at the center of the universe has raised the question; where do such eccentric views as Rep. Chisum's, that the Copernican model of the Solar System is wrong and derives from a Jewish Kabbalistic Conspiracy, come from ? Until recently, it's been generally assumed that the debate over heliocentric vs. geocentric models of the universe, that raged up until the advent of Copernicus, had been well resolved. Lately though, an American movement has sought to restore the Earth to a central position in the grand cosmological scheme... Since the existence of the "Flat Earth Society" became a widely traveled joke, it has become hard to determine if card-carrying flat-earthers really exist any more; many join the society for amusement. But, there are real geocentrists who dream of spheres within spheres and orreries , speculate that Copernicus killed Tycho Brahe and write dense, arcane mathematical proofs placing the Earth at the center of it all. Variants of such views apparently can be found in the Texas State legislature and, in 1999, Tom Willis --head of the Mid-Atlantic Creation Research Association - was " intrumental in revising the Kansas elementary school curriculum to remove references to evolution, earth history, and science methodology". Willis was also a "geocentrist" and wrote, in 2000, a bold manifesto for both Young-Earth Creationism and Geocentrism
"...all experiments to demonstrate that the earth moves at all have failed. All seem to indicate the earth does not move at all. There is much evidence that the earth is young and cannot possibly be millions, much less billions of years old but we will not treat that herein.... The Bible does not say that the earth is at the center of the universe. But, anyone looking up can see that the sun, planets and stars are moving. Galileo argued that this motion was relative, that really the earth was spinning and it only looks like these other objects move. But, both the observations and the Bible indicate quite strongly that the earth does not move."

I myself, a hopelessly bent pickle-smoker, can attest to the power of a gay band's influence. Had I never heard Ravi Shankar, DMX, Ghostface Killa, The Doors, Metallica, or Jay-Z, I might never have developed into the filthy faggot I am hopelessly consigned to flame for all eternity for being, but I accept that this is also another shining example of Jesus' love too! Seriously, I know that hearing "Love Her Madly" by The Doors is what made me predisposed towards indiscriminate three-ways and that twitchy feeling I get in my no-no place every time I see a bathroom stall with a decent sized hole cut out of it. I hear "Niggaz Done Started Something" by DMX and I lose all self control... MUST! FUCK! ASS!

Brother Donnie shares some very interesting philosophies also! Take, for instance, his love and admiration of Oscar Wilde as stated in his mission:
Oscar Wilde, my hero, was a reformed homosexual. He went to prison for his sins. Once he was alone with his thouhgts, in jail, he saw the errors of his ways and repented. He died as a Christian. While I'm not advocating jailing all Homosexuals, I do think it would benefit them greatly. It would be for their own good. When a person is forced to think they will generally be able to see their problems and solve them by themselves.
What a sweet and well reasoned thing to say!

Meet Brother Donnie,
Reformed Fag-cum-Minister *giggle*

He even has an exciting band called Evening Service! Now remember, they don't want to be labeled a 'Christian band', although their faith is a big inspiration! They even have an exciting new song out called "The Bible Says (God Hates Fags)"! Isn't that catchy and oh-so-thoughtful? Goodness gracious, I just want to cry everytime I hear it!

What's that, you say? A VIDEO IS OUT FOR THE SONG??? OH MY WORD! See for yourself, saints & sinners alike! Make sure you tell all your little friends about this post - link to me here and help me raise awareness of this important and well-intended work that Brother Donnie and his 'friends' are doing! And remember, kids - Jesus loves you, but DON'T PUT THAT IN YOUR MOUTH!

Hat tips to Jesus General, the last true heterosexual Christian patriot (and former giver of the best reach around EVAR), and to my beloved Pam for leading me to this path of righteousness. Now if you'll excuse me, I must find my poppers and Crisco...

O'Reilly: Abducted child "liked ... his circumstances," had "a lot more fun" than usual
On the January 15 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly said of Shawn Hornbeck -- who was abducted at the age of 11, held for four years, and recently found in Missouri -- that "there was an element here that this kid liked about this circumstances" and that he "do[esn't] buy" "the Stockholm syndrome thing." O'Reilly also said: "The situation here for this kid looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his old parents. He didn't have to go to school. He could run around and do whatever he wanted." When fellow Fox News host Greta Van Susteren pointed out that "[s]ome kids like school," O'Reilly replied: "Well, I don't believe this kid did."

The following day, during his "Talking Points Memo" segment, O'Reilly responded to viewer mail criticizing his comments about Hornbeck. O'Reilly concluded: "I hope he did not make a conscious decision to accept his captivity because" his kidnapper "made things easy for him. No school, play all day long."

O'Reilly frequently casts himself as a champion of children. He has also suggested that he is "looking out for the kids" and attacked "the print press" for not "car[ing] about the children."

On MLK Day, Savage called civil rights a "racket" designed to steal "white males' birthright"
On the January 15 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, in a monologue about Martin Luther King Day, Michael Savage called "civil rights" a "con" and asserted: "It's a racket that is used to exploit primarily heterosexual, Christian, white males' birthright and steal from them what is their birthright and give it to people who didn't qualify for it." Savage then said, "Take a guess out of whose hide all of these rights are coming. ... [T]here is only one group that is targeted, and that group are white, heterosexual males." He added: "They are the new witches being hunted by the illiberal left using the guise of civil rights and fairness to women and whatnot."

From the January 15 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: But basically, if you're talking about a day like today, Martin Luther King Junior Day, and you're gonna understand what civil rights has become, the con it's become in this country. It's a whole industry; it's a racket. It's a racket that is used to exploit primarily heterosexual, Christian, white males' birthright and steal from them what is their birthright and give it to people who didn't qualify for it.

Take a guess out of whose hide all of these rights are coming. They're not coming out of women's hides. Are they? No, there's only one group that's targeted, and that group are white, heterosexual males. They are the new witches being hunted by the illiberal left using the guise of civil rights and fairness to women and whatnot.

*The reason I post about this asshole is because he has a weekly audience of an estimated 8 million people.

Bush Moves Toward Martial Law
In a stealth maneuver, President Bush has signed into law a provision which, according to Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), will actually encourage the President to declare federal martial law (1). It does so by revising the Insurrection Act, a set of laws that limits the President's ability to deploy troops within the United States. The Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C.331 -335) has historically, along with the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C.1385), helped to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement. With one cloaked swipe of his pen, Bush is seeking to undo those prohibitions.

[...]

For the current President, "enforcement of the laws to restore public order" means to commandeer guardsmen from any state, over the objections of local governmental, military and local police entities; ship them off to another state; conscript them in a law enforcement mode; and set them loose against "disorderly" citizenry - protesters, possibly, or those who object to forced vaccinations and quarantines in the event of a bio-terror event.

The law also facilitates militarized police round-ups and detention of protesters, so called "illegal aliens," "potential terrorists" and other "undesirables" for detention in facilities already contracted for and under construction by Halliburton. That's right. Under the cover of a trumped-up "immigration emergency" and the frenzied militarization of the southern border, detention camps are being constructed right under our noses, camps designed for anyone who resists the foreign and domestic agenda of the Bush administration.
DETENTION CAMPS?????

Had enough yet?

Hunter over at DailyKos is reporting that Hastert knew nothing, but I call bullshit on that one - no way is the Speaker's office going to be informed of such content and HE not be on the up-and-up, I'm not buying that. Someone's scrambling to protect someone else, this one is probably going to be ever worse than Abramoff & Delay put together - and I love it. Why wait until today, anyway? Too little too late, ya fat bastard.

Once again, the Dems are on a really good footing to fuck some shit up here, PLEASE universe let them get some balls and spines to go toe-to-toe on this, it's one of the only opportunities they're going to get before midterms where the GOP collective won't be able to deny them their outrage in the public without swaying the moderates who otherwise might err on the side of the Republicans. And all those in the Evangelical base have not only been given cause for outrage on conduct, but on the fact that they've been fucked AGAIN by the idols they worship so falsely. And you know what? Serves them right, the whole cunting lot of them. Conservatives believe America should be a Christian nation, but Liberals think it should fucking act like one.

It ain't just Foley & Hastert, either - this one's going to have a long chain on it and a LOT of folks who had better start offering some answers PDQ. I cannot WAIT to hear Feingold, Obama, Dean, Emanuel, Clark, & Ryan go off on this one! Come on, Democratic Party - renew my faith in you, kick the ass you claim you kick for once, they're giving you a goldmine, you're not likely to get anything like this again when it can matter most. Foley was in charge of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, for fuck's sake - for a full fucking year it's CONFIRMED they knew he was a pedophile and at the very least being held to serious scrutiny and yet he still had free reign! You don't GET better than that, unless Dubya is caught butt-fucking Ann Coulter's nephew, COME ON!

Tick...Tick...Tick...
Max
House GOP Leadership knew about Foley almost a year ago, let Foley remain in House leadership, let him remain as chair of House sex offender caucus.

The upside is that now there's an open seat that before this would most assuredly have gone to a Republican, I'd venture a guess now that's up for scrutiny.

Jesus, these fucking guys... So exactly HOW does this fit into the party of Family Values? HOW is this in any way conducive towards helping protect children? So basically in one fell swoop we not only sanction torture but we codify it like it's just no big deal; Wiretapping gets another clear go-ahead; and again - all of this is somehow the Dems' fault; and now the Foley/Hastert scandal. Pedogate? Hmmm...

I fucking swear, if heads do not roll over this, and I mean in a BIG way, I'm climbing into a goddamned clocktower. Either way, he's clearly going to have a very productive career in an archdiocese somewhere, what with his now known history of not only being an active pedophile but having it enabled by the powers-that-be without any sort of retribution.
