Alrighty then. Future music posts will include a lot of more rare & obscure stuff. Planned posts include:

    4AD Records
  • Dead Can Dance*
  • This Mortal Coil
  • Cocteau Twins*
  • dif juz
  • Wolfgang Press*
  • Lonely Is An Eyesore (Compilation)

  • Bauhaus*
  • Love And Rockets*
  • Tones On Tail*
  • Dali's Car*
  • Peter Murphy*
  • Daniel Ash*
  • David J*

I'm also going to post several albums of different genres that I believe EVERYONE should own, + the complete discographies of Ani Difranco, Indigo Girls, The Smiths, Jeff Buckley, Bad Brains*, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Skinny Puppy, and lots more. If anyone has suggestions for music posts, feel free to comment. Also, if you see an asterisk next to any ofthe above mentioned bands, it means I need help with getting some stuff I'm either missing or was lost from my collection - so if you have any of it you can contribute, preferrably full albums, I'd appreciate you sharing - full credit in upcoming posts for your efforts, of course.

HELP ME OUT!!

Want to know something sad? Of all the people/groups you've mentioned here I only know of Mary Chapin Carpenter.

That's kind of the point, though - exposing people to new things. I remember hearing some of that stuff early on and feeling it all profoundly influential.

i own almost everything on 4AD records... not the entirety of it is ripped yet though

I'm frantically searching for the missing tracks I have off the Lonely Is An Eyesore compilation, which I have at home on another PC - I want to go ahead and post that and will as soon as I find these last three tracks I will.

4AD is and always has been one of my favorite labels. When I was a teenager I was heavily influenced by 23 Envelope's designs and did a lot of my early artwork in homage of what they put out. My mother loved Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins and would play them loudly at two in the morning on a school night just so I could have a catalyst to paint different constructions to and my father would keep in in a supply of posterboard (he would bring me 300 lb. rols of it, I'm not kidding) because it was cheaper than canvas and I could size and mount it a lot easier.

i've got all that bauhaus, daniel ash, t&t stuff...it's just the upload that's a problem...

The Daniel Ash & TOT stuff would be GREAT! The only Bauhaus albums I'm missing are "Rest In Peace - The Final Concert", "Swing The Heartache - The BBC Sessions", and "Gotham". I have NO idea where those discs went. "Gotham" I think someone is uploading for me already. What upload problems are you having, maybe I could help - if not, I'm sure Parks could.

I'm really bitter that amongst the cd's that were stolen from my car years ago was all of my David J solo stuff, because it's damned near impossible to find. His albums "Crocodile Tears & The Velvet Cosh", "On Glass", and "Ettiquette Of Violence" are amazing. He did other stuff as well, but those were the first 3.

I have quite a few Dead Can Dance albums. If you need anything, just let me know... I might have it.
21st-Oct-2006 04:47 pm (UTC)
Right now all I need is the song "The Protagonist". As for full albums, I have NO idea where my cd's are - anything you want to upload for me (excluding the 1981-1998 boxed set) will be appreciated!

The only DCD album I have ripped already is "Toward the Within". I'll try and upload it somewhere for you and I'll see if I can find my other discs and rip them too. Unfortunately, I don't have "The Protagonist" either; so I hope you find someone who does because I'd be very interested in getting my hands on it as well.

I have it at home, and theoretically I could get it and be done, but I'm too lazy today, lol.

OK, but I gotta get something off my chest first.

You are elevated in my eyes to near god status.... (Don’t get cocky, I said NEAR)... Not only do you post great meaningful stuff that is a good read and sometimes a good kick in the pants for those who may start to sit on the fence in apathy, but you also rock like the prideful lion that you are.

Yeah, I said it. You have some great taste in tunes. I'd die to crawl through your collection some time. What can I say an audiophile has got to love another audiophile?

Ok, I am done telling you how cool you are.

What Dead Can Dance are you looking for?

This loving rant was brought to you by shared love of anything (Murphy, Ash, J.)

Rock on!

Also, if you happen to have "No Motion" by dif juz, that'd be great too. I have it on the PC at home, but I won't be there until Monday and I wanted to post a compilation today.

ok, all of the above... plus: the wolfgang press and i think gus gus is 4AD as well, but don't quote me on that. lisa gerrard and brendan perry's solo stuff is completely worth collecting and posting as well.

you're my favorite. :)
21st-Oct-2006 07:28 pm (UTC)
oh, duh there's the wolfgang press right there... my bad.
22nd-Oct-2006 01:07 am (UTC)
LOL - goof!
21st-Oct-2006 08:50 pm (UTC)
What are you missing of Bauhaus? I might have it.
21st-Oct-2006 11:39 pm (UTC)
"Rest In Peace - The Final concert" and "Gotham", plus any of the new official live bootlegs.
21st-Oct-2006 11:43 pm (UTC)
I have Gotham and if I go digging through my collection I might be able to find Instant Live: Chicago 2005 (or whatever the heck it was called)
22nd-Oct-2006 01:07 am (UTC)
Also, Swing the Heartache: The BBC Sessions

I'm very bad about listening to new music if it's not on the radio when I'm a captive audience (driving). Is anyone else like this? (Not angry_biscuit apparently.) I should get out of this habit - it's nothing against the music or the opinions of my friends who try to get me to try it, I'm just incredibly slow to catch on to new audio entertainment, LOL.
