“I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."
- Gandhi

I have to laugh at this, I really do. It goes from one extreme to the other, which in an of itself is part of why I find it funny. I'm talking about the new video game created by people with ties to Rick Warren (The Porpoise Purpose Driven Life) and Tim LaHaye (crackpot preacher & author of the Left Behind series, also married to eville™ übercuntress Beverly LaHaye, founder of Concerned Dried-Up-Old-Cunts Evil Bitches Women For America). The game is called "Left Behind: Eternal Forces", and I first heard about it on C&L: (The Purpose Driven Life Takers | The Purpose Driven Life Takers-Part II). Talk2Action was the source, there are also screenshots and a thread that's pretty amusing as well. Towleroad joined into the fray as well, but I really don't think there's anything new going on in the post. invidereliana emailed me a link to a LA Times story on the subject also: (Converting Video Games Into Instruments of God) and then I find a rebuttal to all of these charges in a blogpost on ChristianCadre. THAT thread is interesting! Thing is this - I don't think that people like the LaHayes and the James Dobsons, Jerry Falwells, Pat Robertsons, and Louis Sheldons of the world represent Christianity and I know there are scores of Christians that are horrified by their antics. They no more represent Christianity than the Taliban or Al Qaeda represent Islam. They no more represent Christianity than the marines involved in the Haditha massacre represent the entirety of the Corps. (for more on that from a marine himself, see the brilliant elcid89's post here.) This doesn't change the fact that it IS these people who have hijacked our government and are holding its balls hostage. Republicans invented the Frankenfundies, now they have to live with them and their bullshit. Spin it any way you want to, them's the facts.

In keeping with this, read the story on Alternet that was posted 5/30 called Tyranny of the Christian Right - The largest and most powerful mass movement in the nation -- evangelical Christianity -- has set out to destroy secular society. You'll get the picture more after that. Not enough? Need more? Check this out: US blocking deal on fighting Aids Excerpt:
The Bush administration, heavily influence by the Christian right, is blocking key proposals for a new United Nations package to combat HIV/Aids worldwide over the next five years because of its opposition to the distribution of condoms and needle exchanges and references to prostitutes, drug addicts and homosexuals.

The United States is being supported by many Muslim countries, including Egypt, and various conservative African and Latin American nations. "There are a lot of unholy alliances all over the place," said a European official attending UN talks in New York on Thursday night.
How's that for hateful? Still not enough convincing? Consider the politics of gay bashing for a moment. Remember the post I made last week about all of the true issues that need addressing by the Administration/Senate? Yeah, none of that stuff is taking precedent over this: Bush urges gay marriage ban enshrined in Constitution. I wonder what Mary Cheney & Heather Poe think about that. And then, adding insult to injury, consider the blatant hypocrisy of these Republicans who have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to even have an opinion on the subject, let alone influence. The perversion runs rampant in the GOP ranks, people! And these are the people who get an opportunity to speak for us all. Darwin bless Jack Cafferty, though - he nails it so hard I bet Wolf Blitzer shit his pants in the Situation Room. At least I hope he did, anyway. And as furrbear posits, "...which enterprising White House reporter will ask whether the President thinks that Loving v. Virginia should be overturned?" (hat tip to the loverly georgia10)

Not just the ones in government, but the puppets who spew one thing and then before you can blink make a complete mockery of everything they profess to hold sacred. Consider Bill O'Lielly and his recent interview with Gen. Wesley Clark where B-O' fucked up and brought up Malmedy. Watch the video, I have never seen Clark react like that - it's beautiful. Then go here and watch my hero Keith Olbermann rip O'Reilly (ORLY?) a new asshole, Darwin bless Keith Olbermann too.

Finally, remember this fucknut? Yeah - here are more reasons to tar & feather his dumb ass. Ha!

4th-Jun-2006 01:48 am (UTC) - Ban Mormon Temple Marriage!
Anonymous
PLEASE FORWARD:

In light of the Mormon church lobbying Congress to ban gay marriage,
I encourage everyone to contact their senators and rep. to let them
know that you think Mormon Temple marriages ought to be banned
constitutionally because those secret rituals are kind of creepy and
not very much in keeping with traditional marriage.

(This is a rhetorical argument to make a point, people. Don't get too
worked up about it.)

For more info about this lobbying effort to ban Mormon Temple
marriage (and to find your reps' email address), go to
www.stenar.org (http://www.sissel.cc/blog/2006/05/lobby-congress-against-mormon-marriage.html)

Christian Cadre's Layman has been exposed, and his critiques of Talk to Action's five-part series on the video game Left Behind: Eternal Forces, have been rebutted here: http://www.talk2action.org/story/2006/6/7/41835/37829

Layman, enjoy eating your Whopper!

Talk2Action's follow-up failed to justify the inaccuracies in its first piece. Despite heroic contortions and manipulations on its part. I responded to it in detail, here:
