BACK DOOR BOY IN A FRONT DOOR WORLD
OUTSIDE OF SOCIETY - THAT'S WHERE I WANT TO BE
I'm scared SHITLESS right about now...

"However nice, helpful, prompt and tidy she is, Harriet Miers isn't qualified to play a Supreme Court justice on "The West Wing," let alone to be a real one. Both Republicans and Democrats should be alarmed that Bush seems to believe his power to appoint judges is absolute. This is what "advice and consent" means."

Within the confines of her usual drivel, I find this bit of reason. I'm terrified to look outside and confirm that life as I know it has at long last ceased to exist, which is what I suspect as after all this time I've finally heard something from Frau Coulter that I actually *gulp* agree with.

Oh look, birds are flying upside down, all the trees are on fire, and in the distance I see "The Nothing" coming for us all. Greaaaaat, just fucking swell. Where's my goddamned floss?

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's funny how much they have jumped on this woman. The Democrats actually seem to like her more than the GOP does. Maybe this is what set them off. Personally, I found that fact that her eyes never left his face the whole time that he was speaking about her at the nominating speech was creepy enough to disallow her.

Democrats like it any time Bush demonstrates his idiocy, I share that sentiment. I'm not even remotely convinced that it isn't some sort of ploy though, I'd already resigned myself to the notion that with Roberts as SCOTUS Chief Justice that Roe v. Wade was gone. The GOP collective and the Bush sycophants are finally coming around to what the Liberals have long accused them of, only now with proof - they're fucked themselves royally amid war, scandal, corruption, natural disasters, and criminal investigations, and it's only going to get worse. If there's any hope in years to come of a GOP majority, they'd better get it together FAST. See what happens when you let the fundamentalists hijack the country?

I knew we were shit out of luck when Jerry Falwell endorsed her.
11th-Oct-2005 03:34 pm (UTC)
Have we found out /why/ Falwell and Dobson have endorsed her? I mean, there was great rumor-mongering that "I know something you don't" was coming out of both their mouths - which could easily be grandstanding as they are wont to do, but...?

She attends a fundamentalist Xtian church known for it's virulent anti-gay/pro-life stance. It's 50/50 that they might know something. Could be that the idea here was to get her as the icing for the cake to overturn Roe v. Wade, but that's just speculation on my part. Isn't John Roberts' wife the head of some pro-life organization?

As soon as I found out that James Dobson was coming down on Miers' side, I lost all hope.

And I felt a similar pain to yours when I found myself agreeing with Andrew Sullivan a couple of weeks ago.

Dobson having ANY say in politics is about as fucked up as a football bat.

Rarely, but every now and then, I agree with Sullivan.

I went back through a couple of her other columns and, like other vocal conservatives, she seems to be moving away, at speed, from the statements of 2001 and 2002 that Bush was another Reagan. This, too, frightens me. It makes me wonder where they are going and who they will back in 2008. I just can't imagine them uniting behind McCain. I still believe that Rice is more of a fantasy candidate than someone who can run effectively, but I am so often wrong about this sort of thing.

You know, the GOP collective in general is SO far beyond fucked that the light from "OMG, we're FUCKED!" will take 20,000,000 light years to reach them. If they keep it up, they'll end up making a Liberal out of ol' Ann here. Of course, that would undo civilization as we all know it, but hey - there you are.

Scary, isn't it? The right wing nut jobs seem to be turning on Bush. It almost makes me like him.

But not really.

That made me throw up a little in my mouth and then I collected myself and remembered that I have always suspected that monster-like woman was only saying shit to get people to look at her. I don't think she believes a single word that comes out of her mouth. She's like a neglected child that thrives on negative attention.

Agreed!

why are you surprised? she's an attention whore who likes to stir shit. there's some shit to be stirred over the miers nomination, so she's stirring it. she says nothing original. agreement with her isn't a sign of the apocalypse, it's comparable to a working clock agreeing with a stopped one twice a day.

why anyone on the left even reads her crap is beyond me. it's just so ... worthless, compared to the real thinkers on the right. and the snark isn't even good.

you wanna be truly stunned, read george will.

I think Rush was on that same streak too. It's funny how... um... "unified" Republicans all were up until Miers... Now they're all bitching about how conservatives have lost focus and are spending too much and blah blah blah... Yeah, *NOW* they're trying to walk the walk instead of just whining the whine.

Funny how they all herd together.
