Playlist Music 2/24/05
24th-Feb-2005 11:34 am
I was feeling very nostalgic for some reason today, so I made a huge playlist. I started typing out the tracks, but decided this was a better idea.

I like having this kind of music playing when I'm cooking, and since I'm making chicken & dumplings for dinner I figured I needed lots of music. Last night I made crabcakes for dinner, and the night before I made Japanese. I made a salad with ginger dressing (like the kind you get in hibachi restaurants), teriyaki chicken with mustard and ginger sauces on the side (like the kind you get in hibachi restaurants), stir fried zucchini, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and onions, and vegetable fried rice. Tomorrow I'm making red sauce for pasta and bruschetta for dinner.

"A chair is still a chair, even when there's no one sitting there. But aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa chair is not a house, anda house is not a home when there's no one there to hold you tight and no one there you can kiss goodnight..."

Damn, PREACH it, Luther! I hate skinny Luther, I love some big Luther though.

Comfort music for comfort food. Nice list of some classic rock and great motown/r&b standards.

You get 1,000 extra points in my book for Stevie Wonder's "AS". My favorite Elton John is Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding"

Ahhh.. Burt Bacharach...

I'm not meant to live alone!
Turn this house into a home!
When I climb the stairs and turn the key,
Please be there, still in love with meeeeeeeeee...

Such a great song.

It's kind of like a "beggin' man's" song, but with much more self respect. He's just laying it on the line, telling it like it is.

In truth, I have never heard Luther's version. You have piqued my interest in hearing his version! Thank you!

Well, then I have my work cut out for me teaching then! Next time we're up, I'm making dinner - and you're observing, possibly documenting for future reference.

Oh my dog.. I love so many of those songs! You already know how I feel about Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder... betcha didn't know that today I ordered the "Best Of" CD by Jefferson Starship. Also, "If You Could Read My Mind" is a wondeful song.. it will make me tear up every time. Hae you ever heard "Easy For You To Say" by Linda Ronstadt? If not, please check it out.

Um, red sauce and bruchetta...

I mean, I know it goes without saying, being Friday and all, but I'm *so* there.

Great, now I'm hungry.

My husband decided he wanted beef stroganoff, so I made beef stroganoff (he likes my "I'm a college student" version best... noodles, cream of mushroom soup, hamburger, and sauce powder. Go figure). We had enough for dinner and leftovers for lunch. Next day, I asked him what he wanted for dinner: pasta with veggies in garlic & olive oil, red beans and rice stuffed into peppers with chili-crusted chicken, baked ziti? He said, "Beef stroganoff. And make twice as much."

I have eaten beef stroganoff for six meals. I'm ready to kill him and make husband pie.

Lol - that's hilarious! Feel free to try my cookbook and give me any feedback you can. There's mostly pastas on there now, but they're definitely worth a try!
