I am very happy about this and I hope that this sends a message to other states and to other people that, even in the conservative South, in the religious bible belt, that efforts to discriminate against people in our society is not something we will stand for. I do, however, also know that this is not over. The conservatives will continue to try to impose their will on us and our rights in this country until a federal amendment to the US Constitution provides for our specific rights, to transcend all states and territories. Let's celebrate this Georgia victory, but not forget there are 49 other states where this battle has either already taken place, has already begun or will begin in the near future.

Congrats to all my American friends! I'm glad your president failed in his attempts to send you back to the stone age!

The jury's not out on that yet, this was just at the state level - but it is still very exciting!! Thanks for the support!

wait, what? I read the ajc link, but it didn't seem to spell it out clearly enough for me. It needed to have 120 out of 180 to move on. Has this voting already happen and therefore the ban was shot down at 117 of 180?

“Whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, we have seldom had an opportunity to stand up for things that are common-sensical, things that stand up for Christian values,” Boggs said. isn't that USUALLY a contridiction in terms? common sense? christian? most of the things i see as christian don't make a lot of common sense to me...

i also think it's fairly well a matter of time, before this gets resolved. blacks aren't kept as slaves, those who landed here fled england so they could do their own religious thing (which turned out to be not so different, but that's another story), women can vote and go out and work (like it's a good thing...), so i know it's only a matter of time before they cease this neandrathal type of thinking, and pass a law, that is far more common sense than discrimination.

one more thing, as i continue to read this-

"“Equal protection is what we have,” Crotts shot back. “They want special rights.”"

htf is anyone asking for SPECIAL rights?!

anyways- i am very glad to read about this!! viva la revolution!!!
