First a live version of the original:

Bonnie Raitt - I Can't Make You Love Me
(featuring Bruce Hornsby)

Now, an equally stunning live cover:

I prefer Bonnie's version, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE George Michael. To this day all I have to do is play the song "Fastlove", and I'm on my feet dancing my ass off. Oh - and he's unbelievably beautiful in the video in case you haven't seen it:

I'm a purist, her version is more bluesy - plus, it has Bruce Hornsby on piano. Win + win.

It's great to hear a man sing this, but Bonnie's version gets me every time.

Wow, have not heard this song in a damn, long time. Love it, love it, love it! I need to get this album.

I have not seen George sing in a long time and interesting to see how he has aged. I still have his first album. I still prefer the Bonnie Raitt version any day for the same reasons you gave.

Sorry for butting in, but if you get her special album on itunes, she actually talks for a while about that song. It's amazing.

That is my favorite song! Both versions are wonderful!

I prefer Bonnie.. I've never really heard much of George's music anyway. He did an okay job, though.

When Bonnie started singing this song, I got goosebumps. As the song progressed, I got teary eyed. By the end, the tears were falling down my face; not in a boo-hoo type cry, just an "oh wow, amazing woman with an amazing voice" type cry. Loved it!
